(Mods: Couldn't decide where this belongs, but it didn't seem like "non-sports" or anything else obvious, so move it if you need to...)

I received a signed poster of BDS from a friend that has 3 signatures on it. Two of them are CNS and CGS, but the third I'm having trouble deciphering. I'm hoping someone on here will be able to help me with it.

Thanks!

EDIT: Removed the photo since BamaGary was able to rotate it properly a few posts below. Please see his post for the signature...

I've tried over and over to figure out why the image is displaying sideways (at least it is on my browser), but I can't seem to get it to "right-side" itself, so you might need to save it to your computer and rotate it. Sorry!

88 could be a year too. It looks like there's an apostrophe in front of it maybe.
Yeah, I tried looking at some old roster lists for '88 and didn't see anything that stuck out. I hadn't thought of it being #88, but I could see that being a possibility.

I hate to bust your bubble, but CNS and CGS have never been a part of the Crimson Tide football program at the same time. Gene Stallings never played with the Tide, but was an assistant coach under Bear Bryant in 1958, and then was the HC from 1990-1995. Coach Saban never played for the Tide, and did not arrive here to coach until January of 2007. Sorry, but it's highly unlikely that both their authentic signatures are on that poster.

You're not bursting any bubbles here. I never thought or claimed that they were there at the same time. Plenty of people have both of their signatures on the same item - there's no reason the signatures had to be made at the same time. Regardless, I'm not particularly concerned b/c I'm not planning on selling it or trying to prove it's authenticity to anyone. At this point I'm just trying to see if I can figure out who the 3rd signature is from.

Don't think the 88 is a number, with the tick in front of it. I think it's a year.

And, while Coach Stallings isn't a "part of the program" in an official sense, he's still very much a part of the program and comes around campus fairly often. I'm sure he and Coach Saban have been in the same room on more than one occasion since Saban was hired.

Back to the sig, what players' names started with J who graduated in 88?

Might not be the year. The only Senior I found on the roster in 88 whose name starts with 'J' is Jeff Bentley. Doesn't really look like that.

Although my signature bears very little resemblance to my name, and the name I go by is not my first name, so it could be him or there might be someone I'm overlooking on the roster.

That's the signature of John Cepo, Vice Assistant to the Equipment Manager, 1984-1988.

Notable Career Highlights:

- In the celebration aftermath, John successfully retrieved the tee used by Van Tiffin during "The Kick."

- John also recovered a few pieces of Notre Dame QB Steve Beuerlein's short-term memory that were found on the Legion field turf. DNA tests later confirmed they matched the pieces that were embedded in a crimson #97 jersey.

A "waterboy" ?

The name is separate from the third line that ends in what looks like '88. The first name looks more like a "Jackson", than a "John". The last name appears to be longer than "Cepo". Notice the upwing toward the end of the last name that goes up into the first name like an "l" or "t". The 3rd line has what looks like 2 initals then the '88 or maybe even a '98. Hmmmm, this one has me obsessing.
