New Bloods VS Blue Bloods

Something that’s been spinning in my head since the game. Many of these models are predicting anywhere from a 7 to 15 point advantage for Indiana. My brain cannot comprehend that for whatever reason.

That also got me to thinking, when was the last time that a new blood won a national championship in college football?

1990-1991? Colorado and/or Washington?

Perhaps that’s giving me illogical confidence. And I know this isn’t for the championship. But history tells us that teams like Indiana don’t win games like this.

In fact, I feel more confident this week than I did going into Oklahoma

But again, that could be just a lingering Nick Saban effect.
The line on Fanduel went from 7.5 to 6.5. The early money is on the Crimson Tide.

I'm ready. ROLL TIDE 4EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Bama comes to play I could see us winning this game. However, Indiana is a solid team on both sides of the ball. In my mind it comes down to Indiana’s ability to play ball control. I think we have a good defense but we can’t give up longer running plays.

I'm hoping that we cleansed whatever was sticking in our craw with that comeback against OU - in a very hostile environment at that. I'm hoping we get back to early season BAMA and take the game to Indiana. If we come to play, we can definitely win this game.

A couple of things here:
A switch flipped for our team against OU. Something clicked and we started putting Humpty Dumpty back together again. I think CKW has figured out he can trust his defensive backfield enough to bring pressure and it worked against OU. The offense started playing more cohesively and was giving Ty more time.
Second, we're playing with house money and have nothing to lose and that's in our favor.
I don't know if we'll beat Indiana but we certainly can.
I would love to see the SEC put the Big whatever out of the playoffs.

I think people don't remember that we beat UGA when we were at full strength and we are going to be close to that for IU. I think UGA is better than IU. We are as healthy as we've been in over a month. We've also beaten some quality opponents.

Indiana is a good team, but not as good as Ohio State. Ohio State will probably win it all if Georgia does not derail them. If we happen to make the final I would rather face Ohio State. Kirby got the monkey off his back. The 1970 Nebraska team followed up by dominated us to win it all in 1971. We beat them in bowls following the 1965 and 1966 seasons so Devaney was looking for revenge and man did he get it. Johnny Rodgers ran all over us and was catch robbing a service station shortly after and my wife wondered out loud how they caught him. Our successful history with Georgia played a part in them dominating us in the SEC game. There is no history going into this game so the best team, which is Indiana probably wins. If we come to play we got a shot. We did beat Miami under similar circumstances, but we had the best defense to ever play college football. It should be talked about like the1985 Bears defense.
Unpopular opinion but I’d take the 2011 defense over any other that Bama has ever put on the field.

Idk, I think Indiana is way better than Oklahoma offensively and also has a good defense. Give me their QB over Oklahoma's any day.

I am not saying we can't win this game but I wouldn't bet on it either. We'll see

Ya know....I honestly have no idea at all how this game is going to go. Zip. Nada. Zilch. I don't have any dread or deep seated anxiety about it. But I don't have confidence we're going to win either.

I just...don't know. You can take your preferred stats on either side and make an argument either way. I think it'll be a good game. I don't think we get blown out if we lose.

I am pretty amused at the IU trash talkers. Bless their hearts.

The pressure is on IU for this game. They are now there and they have to prove that they can stay. We really have nothing to lose being an underdog in this game.
Agree. When put in context of our re-boot from CNS to CKD, I feel like we are trending in the right direction, but probably not talented/polished to win it all, YET.

In the context of "this year" Indy is a favorite for a reason.

But, in an elimination tournament, just win one at a time and see how far you can go!

If it weren't for the optics of "Alabama can't beat Indiana??/" in the uninformed eyes of casual fans, I wouldn't balk at a hard fought loss to the Hoosiers simply becuase I think this team has proved an awful lot and they've brought us back from a really bad place the last couple of years (in terms of how we expect our seasons to go).

It's more "unrealistic" at this point, than "unpopular". I'm sure a lot of us loved that defense. Kirby Smart and Nick Saban ain't coming back through the door at Bama. We are who we are and we have to learn to win with what we currently have. You can't be something you ain't!

View attachment 54898Very new blood to be charitable.

It’s a good thing it’s the Rose Bowl and not the Sugar Bowl or I’d be expecting another night before the game ruckus on Bourbon Street like ‘93.

I’m half expecting IU to come onto the field through Smoke and their players ready to do Six Shooter motions in the the tunnel like Randall the Thrill Hill.

Never seen anything like this from a fan base of a historically perennial cellar dweller.

The stuff that’s been on the board here is MILD compared to elsewhere.

Alabama is constantly compared to our great teams.

At the same time, Indiana is compared to their lousy ones.

None of that is the comparison that will occur in the game, however.

I mean... 16-0 would be pretty special. But I suspect this team would be shredded by the best teams of 2000-2022. They have no five stars, 10 four stars, and the rest of the team is 3* or less.

So a very good team, well coached, disciplined, and they should be proud of what they have accomplished. But they have also played a two game schedule, with close ones over OSU, Oregon, and Penn State held them tight despite being a 6-6 squad.
