Though, to use a baseball analogy, he would be a bases clearing double when we're looking for a grand slam. But if the time comes, a double will start looking pretty good.

Hire Rich Brooks. The last Guy that coached AT Uk and Alabama Won 6 National Championships.
I just heard the same thing on the radio here. I would love to have Steve Spurrier. NEWS CONFERECE today at 3:00 pm EST.Herb Winches is in Tuscaloosa, he just reported a press conference scheduled for 2pm today. The name he is hearing is Spurrier, he says his offer is 3 million a year and a 10 year contract.
JOX keeps talking about Spurrier as if it were almost a done deal. I'd be as excited as anyone if it came to pass ... but I'd hate to see Bama fans feel let down with an excellent hire just because he doesn't have the Spurrier sizzle.
We shall see.
Cal coach Jeff Tedford might have the strongest interest in Alabama, especially since he’s in the shadow of Southern California in the Pac-10. The last time the Golden Bears celebrated New Year’s at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena was nearly 50 years ago.
Agreed. I still don't see Saban or Spurrier leaving. Still, there are other, attainable coaches that have me excited.P.C. I am in agreement, as much as I would like SOS on our sidelines, I still cannot find a realistic reason for him to leave USC for Alabama. Some on here think we have a lot more talent than USC, I think that may be somewhat debatable. It shouldn't be a money issue, I am sure he is well paid. The only conceivable reason I can think of and this is a stretch, he may perceive that by coming to Alabama he could have a chance to be the only coach in D-1 history to win NCs at two different schools. Also as you mentioned, if he stays at USC, who ever the new hire is, the excitement or sizzle is dampened somewhat. I guess I am one of the often called "doom and gloomers" but I just do not see this happening.
