Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

I wouldn't be shocked to see more of a pro-set type of coordinator come in. I recall having read that one of our QB prospects said that they came to learn to be a pocket passer more than a dual threat. I need Selma's superpowers to pull up who that was. Jalen or Tua?
It was reportedly said by Tua's father, IIRC.

That said, I don't see us reversing course away from something very similar to what Kiffin had us running this past year with Jalen likely being at the starting spot for at least 2 more years.

I'm not Selma, but I belive I read that about Jalen on the board last week.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

There's plenty of options within the Bama fan base with all the people who know more about offense than Kiffiin.

Kendal Briles?
Considering the antagonistic attitude that staff had towards Baylor and the fact that many are likely tangentially involved or had every reason to know about the sexual assault issues...

yeah no thanks.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

JOX Roundtable is reporting that Matt Canada is going to be the OC at LSU. He's done a good job at Pitt. Helped former UT QB Peterman become a serviceable guy (26 TDs and 6 INTs). Produced the most prolific offense in Pitt history averaging 42 points per game. If it doesnt fall through, this is a solid hire by Coach O and crew.

But, is it enough to win SEC West... with the current qb they have?

I doubt it. If he did, he would definitely deserve the Broyles Award. He will be "inheriting" at good RB in Guice. He did a great job utilization James Conner this past year. Good potential and an upgrade over what there has the past few seasons.

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

I wonder if Saban might go with co-offensive coordinators given the risk associated with Sark:

Sark - Co-offensive coordinator & QBs
Napier - Co-offensive coordinator & WRs

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

Jeff Fisher just got fired by the LA Rams. Their WR coach and passing game coordinator is former Alabama WR coach Mike Groh. He might be interested.

What about Charlie Strong's OC this past year at Texas - Sterlin Gilbert?

The only time I remember having "co-coordinators" was not a great experience IMO.

Great names to bring up. Groh didn't put good tape on but the Rams are a dumpster. Sterlin Gilbert could be a good get in my opinion. Their offense was not really a problem this year

Groh is an interesting choice. Pretty good recruiter too, as I recall.

Strong wants to bring his entire staff with him on his new gig.

As for our search, I think that the short list could be Groh, Locksley, and Napier.

I actually thought Groh might replace Coach Mc when he left.

For those asking about Sarkisian, he's in the same boat as CLK.

from what weve heard, I doubt Sark is here next year

Re: Replacement Offensive Coordinator

If Groh is bringing what I saw of the Rams yesterday then I hope he drives on down to Auburn and provides them a helping hand.
