Neyland stadium question

Re: neyland stadium question

I was there for the UT-BAMA game during Peyton's freshman year. I loathe that stadium. You are packed in there like a can of sardines. A little piece of advice:Make sure you have already done #2 because trying to get to the aisle and then to the restrooms can be a race to beat the clock, if you know what I mean. I beat the clock, but just barely.:biggrin2:

Re: neyland stadium question

I am sure that this is going to sound like sour grapes, but since they have started Tide Totals then you better ask a rich person if you want tickets in the Bama section.
It use to be that they rewarded you for the time that you had been in Tide Pride. For example if I had been in TP Crimson Club for 10 years I would have tickets to away games before someone that been in TP Crimson Club for just two years. Now years mean nearly nothing.
Someone can come in the Touchdown Club and donate a one time gift of $100,000 and they would get tickets before anyone in the Crimson Tide club(of course if you have not donated a higher amount)
An average man cannot do this.

Re: neyland stadium question

If you have enough money, are tickets plentiful outside the stadium on gameday? My brother (Montgomery) and I (Raleigh) are considering meeting in Knoxville for the game. We met in Columbia last year for the SC game and tickets were hard to come by...we finally got them just before kickoff. How is it in Knoxville for the Bama-UT game?

You're not looking at the situation correctly. Under the old system, the only place where length of membership helped you was in your own club. Now your length of membership, with the cumulative gifts, helps you with members of all the clubs. Under the old system, a first year member of the Touchdown Club would get away game tickets before anyone in any of the lower clubs even if some of those people had been Tide Pride since its inception. Under Tide Totals, the people in all clubs get credit for their cumulative donations which can put longer term members in the lower clubs ahead of shorter term people in the higher clubs. I know this is the case because I've been in Tide Pride since its inception and this is the first year that I've been offered Tennessee tickets. Since I've been in Tide Pride since its inception, I've accumulated quite a few points (in fact I think that they shorted me) and I've only been in the Century Club until I got "promoted" to the Bama Club this year. It would take a new member, unless they are in the Scholarship Club or above and depending on the number of tickets, at least a year or two to catch up with me. I think the new program rewards long time loyalty better than the old.

Regarding the $100,000 one time donation, I really don't mind seeing someone jumping ahead of me for that amount or any amount. First, it may keep me from getting away tickets but it may also delay future increases in ticket prices, donations, etc. Second, people giving that much money would probably be ahead of me in the old way and new way anyway so it's a moot point.

thanks for the input.well i had narrowed it down to knoxvegas or the swamp against the gators, after reading some of the comments i may just head to gainesville instead!
Go to Knoxville. I go every 2 years and have never had any serious problems. The Stadium is about to get some much needed improvements and the atmosphere is much better than Gainsville. Plus you can join my tailgate party which is 2nd to none on the hill, even if most of my friends there are viles!
