MSU will view the tape and see it is impossible to get a holding call. Blatant holding will be the only way to stop our DL and they will use it just like Auburn has used the late hit and lineman down field for years. Hopefully someone in the Athletic Department will spend a few minutes on the phone with the SEC office this week.

It’s a double edge sword. While many were missed in the LSU game I’d rather have a no call for both sides than have it called every other play.

yeah. To be fair..we got away with some too, but I agree with Tide&True on the observation. Another one is PIs. Did you see Smith getting absolutely getting hugged by their DB on his drop? I forget what point in the game it was, but if that was not called....why is it in the books?

When our DL's are being held so bad it looks like they have tank tops on, then it should be flagged period. It happened way too much

It wasn't just how obvious that one was, it was that it took place in such a way that there's no way the refs didn't see it. He spun him around, the ball carrier passed him as it was happening, even the announcers had to mumble something about it being holding. It was one of those, nah I don't really want to call holding type situations.

I actually snapped pics of that one to gripe during the game on facebook. There are MANY more!
Don't do pics. You've got to do videos. Otherwise you're using the same technique that stupid Arkansas fan used when he came on here. A still frame from broadcast is literally one frame of 60 captured every single second. A 60th of a second. To illustrate holding penalties it's best to use video.

So that the bama db can be flagged on a pass that is out of bounds uncatchable.

It has been pointed out since during the game as to how pitiful the Refs were. And yeah..I think it was the previous week's Carville rants that got it done. Now..where the discretion came from I am not sure. It did look as though it was planned though. Maybe they thought their fans would storm the field if they called all these things.

Hopefully..... we won't have the same refs This Saturday....
AND we will be at our house. NO WAY.... NO WAY the refs make that bad a showing Saturday.
Especially after such a bad bunch of calls..... the refs saturday will be looking to do a better job...

MAYBE???

I think I came out of my chair on that one. No way the refs did not see that. Overall, I'm a let them play guy. I don't think nit picky holding calls that had no effect on the play need to be called. But blatant ones like Example A, and several others by LSU were just plain flagrant and should have been called. Someone mentioned this in another thread and I agree - I don't care how good Alabama is, the game should be called fairly all of the time.

That video is horrible camera work. Could the guy not at least stand in front of the TV and somewhat zoom in just on the TV screen itself? How hard is that?

Well, I'm sure Coach Saban looks at the film, and though he would never do it publicly, I'm assume we do mention the atrocious calls to the SEC office. How many years do we have to continue to be the "least opponents penalties" team.

It seems to me that James Carville and his brethren got exactly what they wanted--no calls on them at all unless it was procedural. Now, my question to you all (because I of course did not watch it), did Miss State get a targeting penalty on them in the second half? So they can miss the first half of our next game?
