In all honesty I iust dont think Novell is a good HC, with the talent he's got at FSU right now, FSU should be among the elite in college football with the momentum they had after beating us..

I read his quote and hear.....parity parity parity and the team that executes best wins....and we haven't executed.

So, blaming the players instead of saying, hey, we didnt have them prepared.....because we put all our eggs into the beating Bama basket. Didnt really have a plan after that.

Makes the top of this list.

Sure there's more parity but there's still a few teams with no losses and quite a few with just 1 loss. The ACC is far from being the toughest conference. If his players have already failed to play their best 4 times he needs to take some blame for that.

Exactly my friend & agree a million percent..

What's baffling too me is they've got a pretty good & experienced coaching staff, butttt, they simply look unprepared as a team..

That tells me all i need too know Novell & his approach too leading a major college football program like FSU..

If you can't win at FSU with the state talent at hand..

You're in the wrong buisness & FSU has the wrong HC leading them..JMO

Ironically, CKD realized this and adjusted - the players weren't ready to battle and he made the adjustments.

I remember DeBoer's press conference right after that FSU loss. The man looked lost. He looked dumbfounded.

There was a shift in his approach somewhere in the next few weeks, not sure if he shifted first or the players did and brought him along. But its good to see. Now we'll see how focused he can have them for an unranked opponent....on the road.....this is the Oklahoma game from last year.

This time, I have a feeling things will be vastly different.

As for Norvell....he'll wind up coaching some team in the MAC or the Sun Belt or CUSA.

He's not going to say what truly needs to be said and that's "We caught an Alabama team in week one who wasn't prepared and was a bit overconfident. We took advantage of it, but after that win we didn't catch anyone off guard and who we really are has surfaced."

He's not going to say that but ultimately you are what your record says you are.

Yeah, in hindsight I think that loss was more a product of poor play on our end, particularly on defense. Norvell's had two pretty good teams at FSU - the 2022 and 2023 squads - and both of those teams had Jordan Travis at QB. Outside of that his FSU teams have been anywhere from medicore to awful. If he hadn't landed Travis at QB, he probably would have been fired a couple of years ago.

I think he's another guy like Billy Napier who is better suited to a smaller program, but has been capable of pulling the occassional rabbit out of his hat.

I think they'll turn things around just enough this season to hit bowl eligibility and probably keep Norvell for another season (his buyout is pretty massive if I recall), but I don't think he's going to be the long-term solution for them - and I think Malzahn is getting close to retirement and probably doesn't want to be a HC anymore.

The way things are now, I wouldn't be totally shocked to see Jimbo Fisher back in Tallahassee at some point. After Taggart and Norvell, I think they'd take him back.
