My biggest concern is our OL vs their DL and how Milroe handles the pressure and the environment. His results so far say he holds the ball and takes sacks and probably makes a bad read and throws a pick. Their D is way better than MSU.

Our D vs their O is advantage us. Their D vs our O though, is advantage them. If we can generate a turnover or 2 then we win comfortably. But if Milroe takes sacks and throws a pick or two, we're in trouble.

The game will be on Milroes shoulders. TAM will blitz, they will take the run away, they will spy, they will disguise coverage. Milroe either plays better or we will have issues vs good teams.

I'm concerned about the lines of scrimmage, the loud noise, and Bama's tendency to have penalties and turnovers. Not sure how well we can run the ball against their d-line. If we can run effectively, it sure would help. I wonder if someone should help Rees with play calling.... maybe Dooley or Saban? I hope Lawson can play. Bama cannot come out slow and get behind. I think Max Johnson is a tough QB and keeps his composure, so it is imperative that our defense affect him. I really, really, really don't like Jimbo. I don't like Brian Kelly either. I think the West will come down to Bama, LSU, and Texas AM. Bama must win this game somehow! RTR

Over the past 15 years we have come to “expect” as a fan base we should win every game. Whether that is a realistic expectation or not can be debated. The reason that we have that expectation is, for the most part, in those 15 years we have been the superior, more talented team with few glaring deficiencies. And when we did have issues, we had another part of the game to “pick up the slack” or cover those deficiencies. As an example, an explosive downfield passing game with Tua, Mac, and Bryce to cover in “the Gol*ing years” or a “shutdown defense” to compliment a ground and pound, less explosive offense.

We expected to WIN. We expected to simply be better in most every facet of the game. And when we did lose it was, for the most part, due to some “other worldly, freakish occurrence” -Stephen Garcia, a fumble through the end zone, a sober Johnny Manzel, a Kick 6, etc, etc…

This year has brought us to the reality that we have issues in several areas. And superior QB play can cover a lot of warts. This is a luxury we simply don’t have this year like in the past.

Every game we have from here out is winnable. However there ARE a couple of very “loseable” ones as well. Our margin for error is much less than in years past.

TAMU is one of those games. And it won’t take some freakish, other worldly occurrence for that to happen. Like @81usaf92 stated, this is a TAMU that matches up very well with us.

Close watchers of the SEC are saying that the A&M offense is widely improved with Max Johnson on the field. In the Auburn game I was impressed with the way they were able to spread the field and attack the defense moving to his left. Patrino could certainly make a huge difference in their offensive play calling. It is difficult to judge them vs. Arkansas who did not appear to have any offensive game plan. Regardless A&M will be one heck of a test on the road.

People are worried because the last time we played there we lost with Bryce Young at QB. They weren't even a good team that year. I believe they had already lost 2 games. We should have lost last year at home with the current QB we have. It is going to be really loud and we have a lot of problems going in so people are concerned. If you think this will be a cakewalk then you are just crazy. I think my reputation on here is enough to show I am not an eeyore at all, and I got a few worries about this game. I do not feel confident at all. I will do my part and bike that morning, but it is all I can do.
I think I’m more worried based on what I have seen this year with aTm and how their defense has whipped our offenses the past two. Crap on Jimbo all you want, but their defense is legit and can force us to find other ways to win than what we would like to do.

I view the game as an opportunity to "right the ship". If there has been a decline, or a less dominant Alabama football program the last couple of years I think it can be traced back to the TAMU upset in 2021. I think confidence is a big part of the problem right now. A lack of confidence among our guys and more confidence among our opponents. We were 17 point favorites that day but Saban suffered his first loss to a former assistant and Alabama's 100 game winning streak against unranked opponents ended. From there on more bad things happened. Saban lost to two more former assistants. The last two years the word "anxiety" has been used by Saban. That word had never been used before. The team had anxiety about going to Tennessee last season. Saban said Milroe had anxiety last year about starting against Texas A&M, perhaps because of the upset the previous season he felt additional pressure. If Milroe can lead us to a victory at College Station on Saturday it will give him tremendous confidence along with the team and perhaps turn the tables where once again our opponents start having anxiety again about facing us.

Arkansas isn’t very good but max Johnson ate them up. Def made me nervous with our tendency of making average qbs world beaters. If we can’t affect the qb they will drop big numbers on us. They’ve got home run hitters at wr and rb

Max Johnson looked pretty good to me. I didn't see the other qb enough to compare the two. I watched them against Arkansas yesterday, and I didn't feel that they were overly impressive, but I don't know that you can look at how a team plays one week and assume that the same will unfold for our game. They will be pumped up to high heaven for us, and so will their fans. If we beat them, I will be impressed, and I'm not one of the "negative nellies" on here. Just realistic. I'll be dialed in watching every play. RTR!

Ps: from what the experts are writing, if we get Deontae Lawson back for this game, that will be absolutely huge for the defense.

I only watched part of the game while I was doing some other work, but he seemed to hit quite a few of his passes pretty effectively. I did see an earlier Arkansas game from a couple of weeks ago, and it looked then as if their receivers were one of their strengths, but they definitely did not look good in the part of the game I saw yesterday against TAM. Perhaps Max Johnson didn't do as well later in the game, I don't know. If this is the case, I hope that *he* will be the guy that shows up against us Saturday.

He was inconsistent as you’d expect in his first start but he hit some big time throws that looked really good. If he gets hot he’s gonna be a problem for everyone they play with those wrs

Probably at 35k or in an airport somewhere
..| I think A&M will play us like Texas did on defense because they know Milroe is not a passer …
Q: What do the following QBs have in common?
  • Bo Nix
  • Caleb Williams
  • Dillon Gabriel
  • Michael Penix Jr
  • Quinn Ewers
  • Shedeur Sanders
  • Sam Hartman
  • Jaxson Dart
A: All had lower QBRs than Jalen Milroe Saturday.

Never underestimate Jimbo's capacity to snatch failure from what should be victory. I think our D keeps us in every game, but to me the X factor is Milro. He can kill us with mistakes, he can kill us by being too conservative, or he can play just well enough and he can kill anyone with his QB runs. I don't consider him an overly mobile QB, he doesn't do that well scrambling in the pocket, but OH MY LORD when he gets north south he's like a bolt of lightning. He can change the course of games on an improvised moment. It's going to be a tough game and the loser is probably just playing for pride after that.

This is from TAMU board:

OFFENSE
Pts/GM National Rank
A&M - 17th @ 38 pts/GM
Alabama - 51st @ 32 pts/GM

Passing Yds/GM National Rank
A&M - 30th @ 283 yds/GM
Alabama- 100th @ 195 yds/GM

Rushing Yds/GM National Rank
A&M - 60th @ 160 yds/gm
Alabama - 52nd @ 167 yds/GM

DEFENSE
Pts/GM Allowed
A&M - 32nd @ 18 pts/GM
Alabama - 17th @ 14 pts/GM

Yds/GM Allowed
A&M - 5th @ 253 yds/GM
Alabama - 21st @ 298 yds/GM

Having this game at Kyle this year is the perfect opportunity. Prove you are the better team on the field, not just on paper. IMPOSE YOUR WILL. Contain Milroe and the running backs = win the day. BTHO bama!
The stats are skewed. Look at who we played v.s. TAMU. Had we played better against USF, our number would've been much better and on line with TAMU.
