It was politically (and morally) courageous. Had it turned out like Carter's military operation, he would have been crucified especially since the VP, Secretary of Defense and Joint Chiefs of Staff Vice Chairmen all opposed the boots on the ground mission. He probably bet his presidency on this.

It was founded near Jordan Lake in 1732, and the founders desperately needed women to join their settlement, so they sent out riders to the East with the message "Tit Us, Please" and thus the town came to be what it is today.

Interesting thing I heard the other day about the night OBL died. While getting ready for school, I had the Today Show on. They interviewed a guy that was in the room at the time. Part of his assignment was to contact government officials of Bin Laden's death. Guess what former president they didn't have a number for? William Clinton. After a few minutes of chaos, they remembered Hilary would know a number for Bill.

But, seriously, I have a thought experiment for everyone. Imagine for a moment that the raid had gone horribly wrong, that we had failed to get OBL, and that we had lost the entire Seal Team 6. For those of you who now say the President deserves only tertiary credit for the mission, would you also have assigned him only tertiary blame?

My guess is you would have crucified him, and I would have agreed with you.

Which is why I disagree with you now.
 
OBL's thoughts on VP Biden:

Bin Laden wanted to see another major terrorist attack occur in the United States and wanted to kill President Barack Obama and Gen. David Petraeus when he was the commander of international forces in Afghanistan. Bin Laden ordered that units be established at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan and in Pakistan to target planes carrying Petraeus or Obama.

Vice President Joseph Biden should not be attacked, he instructed.

"Biden is totally unprepared for that post."

If Obama were killed and Biden took control of the White House, bin Laden wrote, it would "lead the US into a crisis."

I don't think so. The Prez makes the call based on what he's being told. "Hey, Prez....we got him in our sights, we've practiced for this for years, we know we can do it" It isn't the fault of the Prez if they butcher the mission.
