Off Season Fun- Nick Saban Movie: Who would you get to play the leading role?

While Tom Cruise has the height (with lifts in his shoes), he doesn't have the acting ability to play Coach Saban. A younger Al Pacino would be ideal but I kind of like Greg Kinnear. For AJ how about Ryan Gosling?

Coach Saban has a quiet intensity about him, and right now, no actor in the world does quiet intensity better than Michael Shannon (Take Shelter, Boardwalk Empire).

This would be a difficult job for a casting director. 15 years ago it would be Pacino hands down, but considering that today is indeed "today"...

Coach Saban- He'd have to work on the dramatics but he could play young and older---Ben Stiller (They actually favor a bit)

Mal Moore- Tom Hanks- Gray his hair and he could nail it...

Quite frankly I think Mark Wahlberg would be a good addition to the short list. He's about the same body type, he's got intensity down to a T...and he's familiar with doing football movies. I think he could pull it off.

I also like Goodman for Phil Fulmer. It's too bad John Candy is no longer with us.

After watching the movie about Coach Bryant in the mid 80's, I can't get excited about another poorly made movie about one of our great coaches. I did enjoy the play "The Bear" when it played in Birmingham a few years ago.

With some hair coloring for the role, I think Richard Gere could pull it off. He and coach have similar eyes and facial features.
