Bama Game Thread: Official Complaint Thread, Bama vs. IU...

Several years ago, when teams like Auburn and Ole Miss started running RPO offenses, Bama and other SEC teams started going with leaner, faster defensive linemen/backers to keep up. I think this has backfired against the SEC against teams in the Big10 that are clearly dominating both lines of scrimmages now. Bama must put a priority on reestablishing dominance on the line going forward.

I wish we could have that 4th and 1 back. I was actually yelling at the TV to go for it, but that is NOT what I was thinking we would call. Why a left to right run call on 4th and 1? I think the analytics are very favorable with a QB sneak, or a even a high percentage pass, maybe an rpo.

There needs to be a coaches mentorship group in the offeseason where other trusted coaches counsel you on what you need to improve on.

Two things I would tell CKD...
- You need to adopt a new strategy for winning when half the players on the field are future pros. Not winning the LOS scrimmage is not an option. It won't win hardware and will ultimately drain recruiting. Same things that always won still win. You csn get those kind of players to win at Alabama.

- Grubb is your friend, but he is not a good OC for this level of talent on the field. Random play calling doesnt result in an effective offense. He doesnt understand the run game and doesnt know how or when to use it.

- Oh BTW, if you want to keep your job at minimum you better get a better OL coach.

The Big 10 Championship game between Indiana and tOSU was an old fashioned SEC game. It was physical for 60 minutes and won at LOS.
Indiana is beating us with what was the hallmark of Alabama football under CNS.
Miami...coached by another Saban acolyte, showed how LOS is the way to win...both sides of it...we need an old school Saban like coach...get in the trenches and win

What bugs the most about DeBoer? When we are getting beat, he doesn’t act the least bit peeved, the least bit irritated. He acts bewildered and clueless. Too many times he just falls into repetitive coach speak.

THAT PO’s me more than anything.
I actually don’t care about that really. It’s more the fact that we look unprepared or take needless chances like that 4th down call. It was early in the second quarter and 3-0. That put us in a bad hole for no good reason.

If this game continues as is this will be a loud talking point in the offsrason for DeBoer.

He brought a ton of his players with him and used the portal about like Deion did at Colorado. He basically cleaned house.
So he brought players over from James Madison, hit the portal, and dominated Alabama? Well how about that!

But we need to wait 3 or 4 years for CKD to “get his style players”. Now I understand; thanks!

The problem is the overall approach to the game. Deboer seems to believe the game of football is all cerebral. He thinks he can out think everyone. Football is a violent sport played with intensity and physicality. Sadly I fear we may see a decade of mediocrity before it gets better. I blame the athletic administration for where we find ourselves. They chose the shiny knee toy rather than proven results.

I agree
The fact that Grubb was fired after one season with the Seahawks is a huge red flag.

We have a poor, weak mentality as a team.

Indiana does not.
Georgia does not.
You know we’ve gone soft when we practice in the morning because it’s hot and have a coach that won’t take but one call on Hey Coach because they’re afraid someone is going to ask a tough question.
