You can guarantee if he was on the other side of the field it would not be called.

The ref was guilty of sideline interference, he should have been on the field where he belongs.

If the ref has to avoid you, it's usually a sideline warning.

If you make contact with the ref in the white area or on the field, it's usually a penalty.
