Official Mod Crumb Thread

As I've stated before, I think the mods' sources may be intentionally misleading them for the short-term until they're comfortable enough for information to get out in the open (just in case that happened). Take the fact that many of them claimed Shula would be retained unless something dramatic happened...and so far, all we've heard that has happened is what we knew from the start (that Shula wouldn't fire any coaches).

I think the UA Admin is playing this VERY carefully...

Actually maybe closer to the truth than anything else.

i was actually referring to any progress that can be reported in, well, generic terms.

1. Such as, we currently have offers in front of two coaches.

2. We should not get our hopes up about an announcement tomorrow, the next two days, [insert timeframe here].

3. Etc., etc., etc

my dog told me that steve spurrier will be the next coach. hows that for your rumor mill?! if you dont believe my dog, ask the squirrel that told him.

I'm about to write an article tonight that lays out everything I'm comfortable actually writing. I'm not talking about shading or hiding anything, just what I'm comfortable writing. It doesn't read much differently from my first two articles on the subject.

If you told me right now that Alabama would ONLY hire Saban or Spurrier, and asked me to pick a favorite, I'd be hard pressed to pick against Saban. Although, I will tell you that I think our original position that Spurrier was not a serious candidate has changed. And I mean, changed over the last couple of days.

I think if anything is getting clearer, it's the pecking order behind the top group. I think Rodriguez is emerging as the next step if both Saban and Spurrier say no, and I think you can probably -- not definitely, but probably -- take Petrino off the list.

And over in the corner, hanging out, is Bob Stoops, who would have to come from far back in the field to win this race now.

you make it sound like coaches are beating down the door. If you listen to ESPN, and the Memphis media, nobody wants to come here. Coach Moore needs to go to a Delta State to find someone.

I do think this will be an attractive offer for the right coach. I also think if we "get down the line" to a Paul Johnson, we still are better off then we were.

The article concerning RR's discipline scared me off of him.

That's not a crumb. That's a whole slice. Thanks Jess! ;)

So, we have a fighting chance at two, maybe three, of the greatest college coaches of recent years. And if they all turn us down, we may be reduced to perhaps the most brilliant, innovative young coach in the country who has proven he can win at the BCS level at a lesser program than Alabama.

Yep ... sounds like we are bungling this search process big time.

Stars fell on Alabama . . . and maybe it about damn time. RTR and good night to all.
