I honestly think the only reason this game was close is because we had to go on a road vs a team coming off a bye. Missouri has some good edge guys, a good RB and solid OL but the rest of their team is not good. Their QB in particular is pretty terrible.

I'm glad Tennessee is at home and a revenge game. But I could see it being another stressful game. Good thing it looks like Tennessee's defense is pretty weak this year against the pass

I said the same to friends at halftime. We had a 10 point lead, got a stop, and got the ball back with a chance to go up 17. For the next quarter and a half, Mizzou made every big play. They stopped us and got a score before half. I said to friends that we needed to take the second half kickoff and score a TD to retake control. Instead, we fumble and let them tie it up. At that point, it was anyone's game. The guys gutted it out and got the win, and that is the main thing, but we seem to be running on fumes at this point.
We were on the road against a talented, veteran and physical football team ranked in the top 15. This was what they were building up to all season and we took their best shot and survived. We get UT at home Saturday so time to rest up and get ready to do battle.

Random question. After the game it seemed CKD was looking for Missouri coach to shake his hand. Maybe I missed it, but did they shake hands? RTR!

he shook hands despite reports that drink dipped on him. There is a video of them shaking hands on Al.com. I think Deboer was looking for a specific player and that’s what the camera caught

Good to see Jaeden Roberts back out there for a bunch of plays. I don’t know how he graded out but hopefully he can play a significant role for the second half of the season.

and I want to see Kadyn sling one.

I don't think he lost consciousness, but concussion protocol is almost a given. The defender almost took his head off with the crown of his helmet...
I’m still so mad about that play. I swear players are aiming for guy’s heads, that was not an incidental contact, and the fact that you can just beam a guy in the head and give him a concussion with zero consequences is outrageous. Headshots should be completely off limits no matter what. It’s one thing for there to be some incidental contact to someone’s head in the course of a tackle. But dropping your shoulder and your own helmet to hit someone in the head? Something has to be done.

Im tired of the loose and ever changing definitions of targeting. I'll watch a game that a hit is called targeting then in another game the same hit happens and its ruled no targeting. LOL!

One problem I have noticed is players not trying to tackle, but trying to strip the ball out. It isn't just us, it is across college football
One thing I’ve noticed, and this has been a thing for years, not unique to the new staff, is guys just trying to bump players down with their shoulder pads. That’s one reason Jam got hurt- the tackler tried to just knock him down with his shoulder- if he actually tried to tackle with proper form and wrap up with his arms, no one would have been injured. It’s lazy.

I have not heard this mentioned much, but the unsportsmanlike penalty against Zion Young was pretty important.
Mizzou had driven fairly easily down the field for an opening drive TD.
Bama had had a yard loss on its opening play, then a 3-4 yard loss on 2nd down, it was going to be 3rd and long (~15), but Mr. Young, who was not even part of the tackle, decided it would be a good idea to run over and flex over the tackled Alabama player. 15 yards unsportsmanlike penalty, Alabama 1st and 10, Bama goes on to score a TD to tie things up.
Trying to set the tone for the game, an unforced error by a self-centered Mizzou player really hurt his team. His teammate had just made a very good play, and Young completely negated that.
I hope our players were watching and learning.
