The stats showed 1500 empty seats. It looked full on TV. Were there many empty seats? It was listed as a sellout. Anyway there was great crowd noise.

There were pockets of empty seats, but it was scattered so it hard to judge how many were open. Still a big crowd and a loud one.

thing about basketball games is that at any one time about 5-10% of people are out of their seats milling about in the concession areas, the concourses, the dining area, or just smoking and socializing---makes a difference in a relatively small area like Coleman as opposed to how it "looks" in a place like BDS...

I was pleasantly surprised to see him start. He did look a little gimpy but not bad compared to what I expected after the fall he took in Fayetteville.
Surprisingly active, but he just couldn't push off that right foot. I think we beat AU without him...

I was surprised that Lacey started the game in place of Releford. I would have thought he would have been held out unless needed.

I like the fact that in the past two years, we are playing our best ball at the end of the year. A sign of good coaching and players becoming better.

And this year we have a more rested Releford and Green to finish out....starting to feel a tad confident all of a sudden. 25 RPI, 16 SOS....winning 6 of last 8, and possibly 8 of 10 heading to the SEC tournament

I agree. With the "previous regime", we always seemed to peak around, say mid to late December/early January, and peter out from there.

NOTHING points to the strength of CAG and his program more than how his teams have come together towards the ends of the seasons, both here and at VCU...

And just think, two weeks ago we were about to implode like a dying star... ;)

Coach Grant has a plan, and he's seeing it out. Obviously he wouldn't have asked for the suspensions and such, but the way he has gotten small contributors to step their game up is nothing short of fantastic. Two months ago I would have almost been ready to put it in the L column if Green got two quick fouls. Now, we've got the guys to give him a rest and not disappear completely inside.

If this team continues their upward trend in the 3pt% area, we're a tough, tough out for anyone. And I mean ANYONE.

We always did good under CMG in December and February. January was almost always a disaster for some reason. We came in ranked very high coming off of our non conference games and would fall flat when the conference schedule began.

I like CAG ability to develop players. Everyone played Saturday who was eligible except Retin. It shows he can develop the kids after they arrive which is exactly what we have to do with our recruits who are usually decent, but not game changers.

Re: ****Official Postame Thread - Bama vs. MSU @ Home****

With the right bracket -- we definitely can make a Sweet 16 run.....and who knows after that.

My logic? If we get in as a 6 or 7 -- is the key. I think if we win the last two -- we start showing up as a 7 seed. Right now our biggest weakness in the RPI is our winning percent -- if we win the last two -- we'll jump from about 70th in winning percent to about 40-45th -- that would get our RPI up to close to 20th....with a Top 20 SOS to go along with it, a 7th seed is likely. Make a SEC Finals run -- move to a 6th seed. Win the SEC Tournament -- maybe a 4th-5th seed.

Getting a 6th seed, gets us a 3rd seed in 2nd round -- a 7th seed gets us a 2nd seed -- but we definitely need to stay out of the 8-9 if possible. I know we could give Duke or Syracuse a tough game -- but I'd rather wait a while before we have to start thinking about all that stuff.

Let's win out and get that seeding higher !!

Re: ****Official Postame Thread - Bama vs. MSU @ Home****

Alabama is a very different team than a month ago. A month ago the core of the team was Green and Mitchell and we were employing more of an inside out philosophy.

Now, we are more of a guard oriented team capable of scoring outside and using high screens and kick-outs to score. I think CAG is more comfortable with the dynamics of the team now versus a month ago regardless of Mitchell and Green's behavior.

Also, strong guard play almost always benefits you in the post season. With the development of Steele, Lacey, Randolph, Cooper, Hankerson and even Eblen combined with the reliability of Releford, Alabama becomes a dangerous post season team.

It should be fun to watch.

Talking about Grant the little things, under CMG, it seemed like we almost never got a loose ball, much less picked a pocket. Under CAG, I'm mildly surprised when we don't get the loose ball. Also, I'm not surprised at all when we take it away from the other team's best ball handler...

Two other stark differences between teams of CAG and The Man From Raleigh - we now break presses effortlessly it seems, and keep our poise in traps, and we also have little trouble getting the ball inbounds.

When you become one of the best trapping teams, you also become one of the best at breaking it.....

Lord help us - yes! I commented on that in a couple of game threads. It was so frustrating under CMG not to be able to even get the ball inbounds...
