Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama vs. UGA...

Will be interesting when his Assts start getting hired away for HC jobs

But it’s also wild that he’s not doing this with a bunch of 4-5 stars

It’s legit development and coaching them up
No question he's doing/has done some things right.

IU played a very week B1G schedule, like A$M in the SEC.

I was somewhat surprised they beat TOSU, but now, let's see if he can make this last more than 15 minutes, so to speak.

I think he tried to act like CNS too much. Maybe their personalities are similar. Again, time will tell, but how many coaches can't lightning in a bottle for a year or two with just the right arrangement of players and then we never hear about them again, at least on that level?

It’s not punishing them for the CG ‘appearance’

It’s punishment for getting Blownout by 3 TD’s with -3 yards rushing.

The loss by 2 TD’s to a ACC team at 5-7 that finished 13th in the ACC still exists too.

OU is now the only ‘respectable’ loss.

We are now 10-3 with 2 Bad no show losses.
Everything you say is fact, BUT you can not make staying home like OU and OM a better path.

I, too, don't feel real great about the next game, BUT we did win the regular season SEC.

He's a heck of a football coach and been really successful everywhere he's been. I watched an interview with him and he mentioned that he got tired of being passed over for coordinator jobs (his last stop before taking the HC job at Div. 2 IUP was as WR coach at Bama) but since he wasn't getting any younger he took a huge pay cut and dove into the HC ranks. I'm a JMU grad so I have followed him pretty closely the last several years.

I would have loved for him to stay (although we got and then lost a really good coach in Chesney) but at his age, the prospect of making 5x what he made at Madison was a no-brainer even if the IU choice was a disaster on the field.

I think he's about as good a HC as there is in the country right now, save for maybe a couple. He's definitely top-5 in my mind.

He certainly can come off as an arrogant jerk, but that certainly isn't unique among coaches.

Time will tell. He's started off fast.

He's been a head coach for nearly 15 years now and his record is 143-37 and he's won at least one league title everywhere he's been.

He may not have proven it on the biggest stage until the last 2 years, but he's been a serious winner everywhere he's been.

Right now I'd rate him ahead of our head coach, for whatever that means.

Yeah, I meant at the big conference level. I didn't realize he has been a HC for that many games, though.
