It is not unprecedented for an assistant to take a job only to be offered a better job (more money). It has happened before.
My point was one, or more, articles listed Milwee as a current Bama staffer. Couldn't care less about the move.

Lateral moves don’t make any sense at the moment with Flood or Wiggins. Flood is due an extension and pay raise if he stays as our O-line coach. Wiggins already makes $450k about $100k more than the current WR coach at TX. I’m sure we could or would match if TX offers more. On top of that they just brought in the best haul of OL and WR of any team in the entire country!

Yeah, either Saban has given his blessing or is ticked off about it........ hate to lose the guy, but I am positive that the Rolodex has plenty of names of offensive line coaches that will be good additions to Bama
I'm sure he isn't too happy either way right now before the championship game. I get leaving for a promotion but for the same position is mind boggling.

Can’t understand him making a lateral move to take the OL gig at Texas which is what the article says.
Pastures always look greener on the other side of the fence...when CNS came one of our board monitors said that we will have to get used to replacing coaches every couple of years. Truer words were never spoken...and it always turns out well. There are plenty of prospects...good ones...of that I am sure.

I believe that he and Sark are close, and that the relationship predates their time together at Alabama.

On a positive note. Just watched press conference with Sark today. It has great insights and is well worth the watch. For those worried, he sounds like he's 100% all in on this team. Very complimentary of Coach Saban and sounds "Sabanized". You can tell he loves this team and I think he really liked it here.

I wish Flood would stay. A lot of the new O line recruits we just signed mentioned how much they loved Kyle Flood. I wonder what they think of him leaving, if it is true. Especially if it is not for a promotion. I hope Saban can find someone they like, have good rapport with, a good coach, etc.

I believe Saban hired Flood on Sark's recommendation, and as other have mentioned, it is believed he and Sark have a close relationship. Additionally, we don't know if O-line coach will be his sole responsibility. The move may come with the addition of "co-offensive coordinator" or "associate head coach'. Those titles also bring additional dollars usually.

Believe that Sark and Flood both got fired from the Falcons and came to Bama together.

True. Given they were coaching together in Atlanta you would naturally believe they have good working relationship which continued at Alabama.
I expect Sark wants to make sure he has strong ally on his staff and Flood would fill that role.
I’m not going to be surprised if A.J. Milwee leaves Butch Jones’ staff at Ark State to be an offense coach/qb coach to join Sark in Austin.
I’m not happy about it, but Saban has never failed to have a plan to deal with circumstances like this. I expect he is well on his way to handling this.
