I felt like that game was a typical smash mouth throwback SEC game of sorts. Did anyway else feel that way? I guess its no surprise since Meyer is over there.

Ohio State did what NO OTHER team has EVER done to Alabama under Nick Saban. Go toe to toe with us playing power football and running at us and beating us at our own game. That is pretty damn impressive. Yeah, these Up-Tempo Hurry Up offensive teams can beat us at times too, but what Ohio State did is way more of an impressive win vs us than any other team that has beat us during the Saban era.

People don't realize how hard it is to beat Alabama the way that Ohio State just did. That was impressive.

My hats off to Ohio State. Good luck vs the Quack Attack

ROLL TIDE!

Yes, I was really surprised at how they handled our defense in the running game. I thought they had a very good chance to beat us, but I did not think they would be able to run on us like that.

It reminded me of the Florida games a few years back. It would have been more smash mouth had we stopped running the ball.

So is Oregon and TCU. I didn't expect these teams who people used to mock in the past for only being offensive teams and not being able to stop the scoring of other teams to perform so well on defense in these big bowl games.

Other conferences are beginning to incorporate defense in their games as equally as their offense, while the SEC is becoming more offensive.

This is a good point. I see the SEC moving away from what made us great, except for Arkansas. I think the continue to improve and become contenders.

LSU still "tries" to be that way, but they can't seem to find a proper QB to compliment that style.

Arkansas might win the west next year!

I said in another thread that Arky could be a 9-10 win team next year, but someone disagreed with me!

If they get consistent QB play next year, Arky will be very good.

If Les ever figures out how to sustain a good QB there, LSU could share the dynasty with us. I still think Arky is the team to look out for. It has been a slow building process, but they are a danger to us.

I wonder why LSU doesn't go to a Ga Tech style wishbone offense? Since Les Miles is hardheaded about pounding it. I mean, why not get creative with it if that's his style? Go wishbone? Or something similar to Auburn? This would also alleviate the need to find a good passing QB. Especially if LSU went to a wishbone O.

Sounds good, until you realize that their last-years QB is now playing in the NFL...

Very true! But to be fair, Miles didn't recruit him. He transferred from UGA didn't he?

I guess I should have said that Miles hasn't been great at recruiting a good passer.

They weren't built like a 2014 SEC team though. Otherwise, they'd a been a lot more deficient and beatable. Clearly they used the model from around when Meyer left.

Why the blue font? That's a pretty accurate statement. 2014 SEC is clearly deficient.

I think we've lost our way. We used to be the most physical team on the field. We're not anymore.
Agreed. We have lost our identity on offense. I know Kiffin has done a good job, I'm just not a fan of that style of offense.
