It is time to get over it. You won the National Championship! Get off the I hate CNS band wagon. I normally pull for LSU, but after going to Shreveport this year I had a bad taste in my mouth. I hope we can continue to have a fun rivalry. I would like to go to Baton Rouge next year, but I don't know if it is worth going to the game. Roll Tide!

I fully agree - it's embarrassing for me, an LSU fan, to still hear of other LSU fans who can't get over Saban - I think they had a man-crush on him or something, and they feel like they were jilted. Apologies for the bad behavior that apparently was quite evident towards you guys in Shreveport...

Thanks for your post & congrats for repping the SEC well tonight . I have a bunch of family over there and partied with several lsu fans back in July . I will say that nearly every fan I spoke with still held strong affection for CNS(as they should) & felt the hat needed to really prove something to them this season and I believe that to a large degree he has . However , I'm sure the "see what he can do without Saban's players" thing will have life entering '08 . That's just the impression I gathered over my 2 visits this year . Again , thanks & congratulations .

I'll be the first to say it: LSU won the national title with Saban recruited talent :) However, any success they have after tonight is 100% Miles. Those Saban kids are gone now. Lets see what he can do with his own talent.

So what you're saying is that the national championship win had nothing to do with Miles?

Quick to jump to conclusions, aren't we?

No one said Miles didn't have anything to do with it. It was just pointed out that Miles did well with a lot of Saban recruits. And it's a valid point. From here on out, it's all Miles: his coaches, his recruits, his everything.

It will be interesting to see how Miles does without Dorsey, Zenon, Jackson, Steltz, Highsmith, Sanders, Doucet, Hester, and others. That's not saying anything bad about your coach, heck it's a congratulations thread for goodness sake, but it indeed will be very interesting.

That's amazing. I came over hear wondering how many threads I would have to read before I saw this. This was my first thread to read and it made it in.

Overall, though, thanks for the congratulations.

It really does embarass me to see a portion of our fanbase hate Saban so much. I for one do not hate Coach Saban. I will always be thankful for what he did here. He changed the culture of LSU football and no one can take that way from him. Nick Saban will always have a special place in my heart, no matter where he is coaching.

Good Lord, guys! Is the chip on your shoulder keeping down your reading comprehension. All he's saying is that Miles' success to this point, by necessity, is built partly on CNS's recruiting. That's a truism, no matter what Les's contribution may have been. And he's saying that, from now on, it's all on Miles - recruiting, coaching, the whole ball of wax. You all seem to be intent on reading more into what he's saying than what he's really said. I hate to say that you're beginning to sound like Auburn Tigers, with their perpetual "world's crapping on me" attitude. Accept the congrats. And accept Nick's role in it...

Those are nice sentiments, and they are appreciated, but unfortunately you are in the tiny minority of LSU fans. I imagine that hatred and vitriol only remains as long as he is coaching at Alabama.

And, honestly, it's only going to get worse and worse as we get better and better under Saban. If they obsessively hate him this much when we are 7-6 and they are national champions, you can only imagine what it will be like in a few years when we are contending for championships.

No, thats not what I am saying. Miles has been the coach for 3 years and definitely deserves his share of credit. I dropped that smiley face in there to let you know I'm teasing you guys. However, I think Miles has potential to be the next Dennis Erickson (did great with those Jimmy Johnson kids, but there was significant drop off once they moved on.) 2008 will be the year Miles can prove himself and silence any critics. I'm not saying Miles needs to go win the SEC again, but he needs to show that hes a contender in 08.

No chip, HSV. I've given Nick tons of credit on this site many times and I still do. We wouldn't be where we are today without him. I just knew that the "Miles is winning with Saban's talent" thing was going to pop up. No surprise.

You're right though. After this year, no one will be able to say that anymore. It's all Miles now. How do you think he'll do?

I've been critical of LM in the past and you certainly have to acknowledge that on more than one occasion he has done thinks that warrant criticism, but I have to give him props for tonight. He and his staff held that team togeather tonight despite a pretty rocky start in the biggest game many of those kids will ever play. They represented the SEC very well tonight and a conference record of 7-2 with a NC is MUCH better than 6-3 with no hardware.

Now, enough of that crap, we're coming after y'all's coon-arses in 2008. It's past time for BAMA to get back to the business of winning BIG football games again. :p_green:

I personally think LM will be alright, but he MIGHT (and I stressed MIGHT) become the new Bob Stoops, in that he could become an overrated coach due to one National Title, and repeated failures afterwards. I mean. Les wasn't exactly tearing it up at Oklahoma State (28-21 record overall, 16-16 in conference record) and that is a conference not as deep as the SEC. So if there is ONE coach who definately benefitted from another coach and his recruiting is definately Les Miles. I n my opinion, LSU SHOULD make and send a NT ring to Saban, seeing as most of the core of players (LaFell, Flynn, Dorsey, blah, blah, blah) are Saban and his staff recruits.

We will see the REAL Les Miles: Head Coach, starting in 2008, when, I believe a majority of the LSU Tigers will be his kids. I'm not trying to hate on LSU, but I could see LSU become a decent middle of the pack SEC team, somewhere in the 8-4 to 9-3 type team for awhile.
