I saw this on ESPN and remembered some of the mods mentioning that we could hear about some recruiting violations with Ole Miss.

Secondary nothing violation.

I really think this is one of the stupidest NCAA rules. Everyone knows who is going to what school. Everyone knows who the big name instant impact players could be. What's the harm in mentioning them by name? Are they afraid someone's feelings will get hurt?

"Although neither Nutt nor his assistants mentioned recruits by name in the Rivals.com story, they talked in detail about the recruits' ability, and coupled with other information in the story about where the recruits were from, it was pretty easy to tell which players they were talking about."
So, NCAA rules say you can't mention a recruit by name.
Nutt did not mention the recruit by name.
The NCAA is out on a limb here.
I'm not big fan of Ole Miss, but that is picky in the extreme.
How's that investigation into paying a tailback $254,000 to play tailback at a PAC-10 school going?

True. But considering the circumstances under which Massie picked OM in the first place I will be VERY surprised if he does not get cleared to play.

This is what I was talking about in my previous post.

I should just let it go. It happens, but I'm still fuming over losing out on Massie.

The way I remember it going down was there were names mentioned and the NCAA called them up on it. Nutt said one good thing was happening after this and that it wouldn't happen again. They would word things where you knew who it was but they didn't say the name again.

Coach Saban has piled up a bunch of secondaries. I don't think he takes them very seriously. And the rules are so arcane, I don't. Back when he was at LSU, he had to pull off recruiting a couple of Huntsville kids because of alleged improper contacts...

Wasn't that Ramzee Robinson and Darby?

Secondary violation. Kiffin has four already. Nutt has a while to go before he can catch Kiffin.

Life goes on. ;)

Nutt has a load of these from his time with Hogs. Not to mention 1500 text messages on University phone....not to football rectruits, but to some woman...this guy is a tool

Personally I am glad we didn't get Massie. I couldn't say one way or the other if there was something crooked about his going to Ol Sis or not. But IF he is the type of person that could be swayed to another school by improper means then to me he lacks the character to play at Bama. I am sick of our team being under scrutiny for players like that. Good riddance.

Key words in your post.. "PAC-TEN".

They're not going to touch USC.
