OT Cyrus Kouandjio Updates

That has all been cleared up according to Cyrus himself. He now says that if he chooses Bama he will not be worried about competing with his brother. I think it is safe to say that Kouandjio is coming to Bama unless something really drastic changes down the stretch to NSD.
 
From what it sounded like in an interview with Cyrus, he would compete for LT while his brother would either be RT or LG. With Fluker at RT, I could see Arie go to LG and with their communication as brothers they could work well together being next to each other when it comes to picking assignments up. A lot of OL is communication and instincts and sounds like they've played together for a long while so that could plug up that left side

Chance Warmack isn't going to give up that spot too easily.
 
I think the OL will be the same except for the LT spot. When the OL was healthy this season they played very well. Look for that again next year.

And I think Aaron Douglas is the favorite for the LT position. Arie may compete for it along with Love or Boswell. It should be fun running behind Barrett Jones and Fluker on the right side this year.
 
I'm not saying that Arie is a starting RG but we need backups and backups get plenty of playing time on the line. I think Fluker stays at RT due to the progress he had during this season and hopefully even more improvement during spring practices. Given all the depth we have on the OL I know the staff will put the players we're they need to be but we'll have some pretty impressive backups
 
With the amount of returning starters and bringing in an SEC experienced, All Freshmen LT in recruiting I don't see Arie getting the nod this year but there's no rush for him to start. He redshirted this last season so this will be his freshmen year and he'll be a number two on the line which will give him some good experience. Not sure what they'll end up doing with Cyrus, if and when he comes. They may redshirt him as well if they evaluate that he needs some work on pass rushing due to the depth we have on the OL

Depth????? Fluker is the top known tackle on the roster. We still need some help.:conf3:
 
It's my opinion that all true freshmen OL, especially tackles, need to RS.

That said, if Douglas looks inadequate this spring, Cyrus K could definitely not RS.

Arie K is a right side guy. He'll end up at RG or RT. Depending on how well Arie K performs this spring, we could experiment with Fluker on the left side.

IMHO,,,, Everybody(including rTo} gets a look at LT.
 
I don't know if Fluker's footwork has improved to the point of going up against teams' best pass rushers. I see him more as a road grater RT. Love has underachieved, McCullough has long arms but at 6'2 is a little short for the position which effects his base when setting up in pass pro, B. Jones has the best footwork of all our O-line but is an AA RG. I suppose Boswell could get a look, but he seems more apt for the right side.

We always seem to miss on our top true tackle prospects at the last minute, resulting in our current shortage of tackles on our roster. This is why most on here think that Douglas was recruited to start from day one, just like Carpenter. Arie may be odd man out again this year, but good news is that he is only going to be a RS Freshman next season. I think he backs up Fluker or Jones and possibly competes for LG with Warmack who was shaky at times this year.

Projected OL Depth Chart:

LT - Douglas, Love, Cyrus (only in an effort to RS Cyrus is he 3rd)
LG - Warmack, McCullough, K.Williams
C - Vlachos, Luatua, Lindsay
RG - Jones, Steen, Arie
RT - Fluker, Shepherd, Boswell (Arie, Shepherd, and Boswell are almost identical body types and are interchangable at RT and RG)

Kelly RS or GS due to injury. I think Luatua is our future center when Vlachos leaves, his rep for strength and work ethic preceeds him.

Sounds good for Bama..I don't think we were ever close to losing him to anybody..Now if we can get Clowney, and Crowell to Bama..This could up being our best recruiting class ever..I love "The Process"..
 
Am I the only one that thinks Cyrus will come in and compete for immediate playing time at LT with Douglas being in the doghouse? I think Cyrus may already be better than Love and others. JMHO.
