Kirby’s post game presser. He even doubles down on the “I didn’t call timeout†lie. It is in last two minutes of this presser.
This entire clip is nauseating. Listen to these layup questions. Why didn’t they just ask Kirby to talk about “how great you are†for 15 minutes? Talk about a lap dog media. And noticed no asked that question until 13 minutes into the presser. The fumble and his “no timeout†were to of the biggest controversies in the game. And it takes someone over ten minutes to ask him about it?
Now Kirby’s “spin†is the Auburn defense was clapping (disconcerting signals - which we know they do. They did it to us on several occasions down there in 2023) and he was trying to “tell the officials they are clapping, not signaling timeoutâ€Â. What a bunch of BS.
Anything above .30 is considered alcohol poisoning and can be lethal. Although I have seen a BAC above .40 come into detox that was “walking and talkingâ€Â.
He's right, it is a penalty is the defense is clapping in an effort to draw the offense into a false start.
That said, If a coach's finger tips touch his pam on the other hand (which they did here), that coach is signalling for a timeout.
Certainly. But it was absolutely clear Bowl Cut signaled for a timeout and “conveniently†right as the play clock was about to hit zero. If you buy any of what Kirby is trying to sell, I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale too. 😉😉
Chris Doering on SEC Network post game show had a great take on the fumble/touchdown scenario. Paraphrasing…you wanna blame the refs? How bout you don’t leave it up to the refs? You had 40 yards of offense in the second half. Missed opportunities. It was a fairly lengthy take but he was spot on. You’d have thought he played for Saban with the take he had on it.

The two worst officiated games of any kind I've ever seen were Game 7 of the Western Conference finals in 2002 (Sacramento Kings vs LA Lakers), but we later learned the referee was corrupt. The other was the 2022 Alabama-Tennessee game. It's not "why" we lost (not solely anyway), but it was pathetic. And I have post after post on this board pointing out you don't blame officials when you lose (99.9% of the time anyway) because your own team missed blocks, tackles, catches, holes for the runner, and (the Nussmeier-O'Brien Act) did some horrible playcalling. Rarely is there time for a team to NOT overcome the bad call.
But I'll admit the calls I saw last night were pretty bad, too. Still, I'll laugh at them like they did when they walked away with the 2019 Iron Bowl.

To be fair, both have elements of truth.
I know one of the more famous in our history is the 1983 Penn State game (played 42 years ago this past week). Preston Gothard DID catch the ball, we DID get hosed by a Penn State official, conveniently similar to how Nebraska had been on the receiving end of a call that may have cost them the national championship the previous year.
On the other hand, the officials weren't the ones who entered the fourth quarter trailing 34-7, either.
Did anyone else stay up to watch the BYU win in OT over Zona?

By my calculations all things holding except the fumble. Auburn would still have lost by a field goal.
In the review era, the officials have been coached to signal fumble and let review make the correct call. So they did that. Review didnt see enough evidence to overturn the call. Which I agree with. The UGA punches the football as it's crossing the plane even though it's still under Arnold's arm but he is not possessing the football through the plane.
The better rule for the officials should be possession maintained by the offense unless review shows otherwise.

I saw two in Wyoming, one of .42 and one of .51 who were walking like normal folks.
I was on the Wind River reservation.
Keith Whitley, the country singer, had one of .47 when he died.
I realize there are lots of factors in translating volume of alcohol ingested into a BAC reading.
Still, acknowledging it won't be scientifically precise, I'm curious. Let's assume the person in question is a male, 5'10" tall, 175 pounds. And he's been drinking at a steady rate for 4 hours....IOW, he didn't just turn a bottle upside down and literally chug the contents.
Just ballpark, how many ounces of alcohol would he have to drink to register a BAC of .47? Since most liquor is 40% to 50% alcohol, you'd need between 2 and 2.5 ounces of liquor to get an ounce of alcohol.
Short version very general:
A male the size you state who consumes 19 shots (50 ml) of 40 proof liquor would reach .49 if it was consumed in about two hours. It might take another 60-120 min to record that value.
Longer version:
I can't really say because:
a) how functional is their liver
b) what is their tolerance
c) body fat percentage (you can be the height you mention and be muscular OR plump)
d) how old is the person
e) what OTHER drugs is this person on (if one has a synergistic effect, it would lower the alcohol necessary)
f) last time they ate
g) genetic factors
Interesting story (to me)
The only time I ever actually had to get on the witness stand - most see me coming as their nightmare in Darth armor and cop a plea - we ran the numbers on this 29-year-old woman. The story - as told to us - was that she had crashed her vehicle, been brought to the hospital unconscious, woke up on the X-ray table and fled the hospital, figuring she would avoid prosecution as a repeat offender but not realizing EMTs have to take your blood in the ambulance so the doctor knows what's in your body and doesn't kill you trying to save you. In this case, though, she wasn't drawn until arrival while unconscious. The even funnier part is she showed up the next day with a broken collarbone (from the wreck) claiming she had fallen down - and came to the same hospital from which she escaped, which is kinda dumb if you think about it. She went home to "dry out" because she was on a serious probation for mandatory jail time .
She fled the state and went into rehab in Louisiana but eventually we wound up in court. Her BAC - and mind you, this was hours after the fact - was .32 when plugged into the calculation. (Amusing side note: it was on the day Texas played USC for the national title, and I had just come back from break when the sample arrived. I had no idea what was going to happen months later).
She was a skinny young black lady, and when I read the evidence at the direction of the prosecutor, she began wailing and screaming sitting in the chair. She'd been offered a plea deal with something like 16 months of jail time, but she wasn't going to jail in her mind. Her public defender basically wanted to build his case upon, "Well, you weren't there to see the phlebotomist draw the blood, so you have no way of knowing whether she used iodine or alcohol to swab the area to draw the blood?" to which I responded, "No more or less so than any other patient whose labs I run."
Just if you're interested - I'm not giving away privileged information because I just found this but her appeal is online with some details from the arrest and the court case (though my name isn't in there).
Additional factors aside, that's an astonishing amount of alcohol - almost a full liter!
Well and someone like that PROBABLY already has serious enough liver damage that they might reach that in HALF the amount I'm saying. Even when I was 5'9" and 175, I wasn't trim or muscular, which is also a role.
And a coke addict will result in a higher concentration quicker, too. And when I say coke, I don't mean the one with the red and white letters.
I was at the CU/BYU game a couple of weeks ago...they are ok, but lack real explosive players. They rely on the FR qb #47 to run a lot...he probably wont last the season!
