Outback Bowl: Still a possibility.

I don't know what everyone's take is on where they would like the Tide to go. I would like to travel to Tampa instead of Dallas. The weather is much better this time of year. The opponent will be a formidable Big Ten foe instead of a smoke and mirrors team from a VERY weak conference. I was under the assumption that we still had a chance at Tampa if a couple of things happened. Well since Florida and Georgia both won and went to 8-3. (We still have a better record) It seems to me that we need Georgia to win the SEC Championship. That would give them the Sugar Bowl bid, then hopefully LSU would hold on to a BCS at-large. That would put Awbarn in the Capital One and bump us up to the Outback. Florida and South Carolina would then duke it out for the Peach and Cotton bowls. I would love to see Urban freezing his *** off in Dallas, instead of Lorenzo Washington. I am just putting this up in the air to see if anyone agrees with me, and to see if everyone really WANTS to go to Dallas. Let's be honest, the Cotton Bowl isn't your grandfather's Cotton Bowl anymore. It takes the SEC #4 vs. Big 12 #2/3. I know it is a bowl that Mal Moore wants, but I hope everyone else wants to go to Tampa instead. If we do end up in Dallas, does anyone know if the Cowboys are playing that weekend. Maybe they could move the game into Texas Stadium (just a joke, but seriously). Also, is there another way we can get into the Outback, maybe someone will catch Kenny Irons signing with an agent and the NCAA will drop Ears down a notch.

P.S.- Roll Tide, and I will go to Dallas if I must, because I support Brodie, Shula, and every man on that team that has given everything he has for what still can be a great 10 win season.

There is no way that LSU will get a BCS bid if they lose the SECCG. There are only 2 at-large bids and Notre Dame has basically locked up one of them. At a minimum, Ohio State and Oregon would be ahead of LSU for the final spot.

The Cowboys are at home Sunday night, 1/1, against St. Louis.

I said it in Sept and I'll face the flames again. I'd take Tx. Tech -17 right now. We simply don't have the offense to keep up with them.

If we play TT in the Cotton Bowl, we likely lose - but our defense is good enough that I think that we have a chance...

I don't think their D is anywhere near any SEC D. Even our offense could score on them.

TT would be lucky to even score more than 17 points. They can rack ups the points on Sam Houston and Indiana St, but anyone else that was decent had a good shot at beating them.

BTW, they lost to Oklahoma St. Seriously -17 you're being a bit ridiculous.

I would listen to Terry on this one. TT is not the slouch that folks in the southeast think. Trust me.

Gamecocks to Independence?

The Greenville (SC) News had an intersting article this morning about Spurrier courting the Independence Bowl. Apparently the Outback wouldn't mind bringing him back to the state of Florida for a game but Spurrier has spoken with the Indepence Bowl and the SEC about playing Oklahoma and Bob Stoops.

The article went on to state that the Outback would likely be interested in having Bama play in Tampa leaving Florida to play in the Cotton Bowl.

Unfortunately there is not a link to the article on the Greenville News site.

Being a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan my wife would love for us to travel to Dallas but I think I'd rather see the warm of Tampa myself.

Texas Tech has a great O, Bama has a great D

in the matter of speed, both are fast...however, given the WIDE gaps TT gives to the D, the TT QB would have to be able to read the route quickly and throw accurately. Bama's D will not give him alot of time.

Bama's O would have to control the ball and clock by running, because even if Bama's D gets to the TT QB most of the game, if given enough time, TT will score....... but then Bama may score by ints.....

I would not say by 17, but at this point, until Bama's OL proves they can protect Brodie, and open wider holes, I would say TT by 10......

I'm sure the Outback would love to have us, but after the BCS bowls, the Cap One gets the first pick overall, the Cotton gets first pick of west teams, and the Outback gets first pick of east teams. The Outback can pick a west team if they want to, but not until AFTER the Cotton gets first pick in the west.

What would have to happen is for UGA to win the championship game, LSU and Auburn take the Cap One and Cotton spots and the Outback forfeits its pick of an east team and takes us.

I am as big a fan of Alabama as anyone here. I certainly am not saying that Alabama is a slouch. I have responded a couple of times to the notion that TT will be a cake walk due to this or that. I am also a realist and I am talling you that TT will be a tough opponent.

Can someone please post where you are getting this information? I have never heard that they did bowls by division. I always thought that the bowls went down the chart and picked who they wanted. I know that the Outback hasn't gotten a Western team since Bama in 96, but when was the last time that the 3 best teams were from the West. I would say not since the alignment in 92. I am just saying don't count out the Outback until all is said and done.

I don't think anyone will think we will just walk in and win the game. What Bama fan, who saw the Aubie game say we will win easy?

To say that TTech should be a 17 point favorite is just as stupid as me saying Bama should be a 17 point favorite.

If you look at the stats there isn't that big a difference.

Not including Sam Houston St, Indiana St. and Fle. Int'l TT has a margin of victory of 10.7

If you look at us, not counting So Miss, Utah St, or MTSU we have a margin of victory of 9.7.

I guess you guys think that TT is better than LSU and Aubie. Who beat us by a combined 13 points. TT lost to the Big 12's equivilent to Miss St. for crying out loud.

No disrespect to Terry, but I think some of you just agree with him because he's a mod.

I think that you are pathetic for that last sentence. Look it, I actually have a mind. I also now live in Waco, Tx. and have seen TT play allot this year. I for one dont need you putting me or anyone else down in this forum. If I disagree with a mod I will say so. If your particular issue is with the spread then tell TP not me. I have simply pointed out that the game will not be a cake walk and that TT is no easy win for Alabama. BTW we didnt just lose to AU we got our buts kicked.

cheers

Well, each team is going to have about a month to prepare for the other. We will see on the field.

I don't usually agree with Terry and lately I've been very sarcastic toward the "powers" that be (And have had more than one thread deleted!). So this is sort of first that I agree with him on this. I hope I'm wrong!
