Our secondary needs to be aware of this guy:

He lacks great size and speed but has a knack for finding open seams in the coverage (a Steve Largent/Wes Welker type of receiver). His father, Jimmy Coale, is a strength and conditioning legend at Virginia Military Institute who undoubtedly passed along some of the tricks of the trade to his son.

To me this shouldn't be an issue - with their OL and our front 7 we shouldn't give a receiver like this time to find the open seam.

The defensive secondary is the one thing I will never worry about while Coach Saban and Coach Smart are at Alabama. That being said, I would not take the Hokies' passing attack lightly, even if it did finish near the bottom in college football last season.

"Is right in the middle of the battle for playing time at split end following a solid spring" .... seems to be questionable about playing time. VT has talent, still to see if this young man will be a concern in a little over 10 days.

I really expect our QB pressure to be ramped up this season, which should make our pass defense pretty dang good.

He set the single season reception record last year (suprisingly to some)... had a great scrimmage today with 76 recieving yards, 1 TD, and blocked a punt..hes also excells in the weight room..i would watch out for him. He sometimes gets under looked, but he will definatly be on the field, regardless of what people hear about fighting for playing time.

Even though VT isn't the biggest passing threat, I wouldn't doubt we played very safe with our secondary to prevent big plays, and just relied on our front 7 to stop the run. Until they absolutely prove they can toss it, and maybe bring Woodall up a bit more.

I concur about Dareus. And would like to add Barron Coming up to stuff the run. He is a freakish athlete.

As long as Marquis Johnson is a starting CB, I'll worry about the defensive secondary. I still have nightmares of him getting torched by Florida.
