Ok, with the recruitment of Eddie Williams, Chris Black, Amari Cooper and Cyrus Jones, not too mention the hopeful playing of Duron Carter. Is Alabama trying to become a more passing offense in 2012 and beyond? LOL Is Saban tired of winning by running and wants another challenge? Do you believe McCarron will settle down and make better decisions next year. Is Sims going to play, what about Ely?

I don't believe the recruiting of the very best players has any bearing on the play-book at this stage. AJ will be better next year.

This. It gets those pesky safeties out of the box and LBs out in space or off the field all together.

Exactly. Good offensive systems are able to adjust based on personnel. We will always have a good running system. But on occasion, we will back the safeties out the box. Saban basically wants to aggressively attack the matchups. With safeties in the box, we have one on one on the outside. So we need players who can beat that coverage. Once that happens and teams have to double team wrs, we can pound the rock over and over again. See Ingram/Julio recipe.

Passing should be easy with a Heisman finalist RB and a great OL. I don't necessarily want more passing but I would like a more dangerous deep game.

I'm hoping that Duron can play next year. That would be 2 6'3" receivers that we will have and a 6'1" in Amari. Not too mention the speedy Hart out of the backfield and big tight ends in Faciane and Vogler.

We have WRs on the team that were highly touted coming out of high school. We just haven't played them that often. Look at guys like Kenny Bell, Christion Jones and Deandrew White. They play for a few plays and then disappear until 3 games later.

Don't leave Harrison Jones (@ HB) out of the equation. He is a pretty good receiver too.

FWIW, you might want to start listening closely to the Bama OC chatter out there. I have been told that an offer has now been extended that would be very good for AJ and his development. (crosses fingers and hopes for the best)

I've seen some of your posts in the DGB thread. I'm guessing you've heard the OC at Boise has been offered the job.

Was told he spent a day on campus and that the Off. Asst coaches liked him very much. Was told again last night that an offer was extended but there would not be anything further about it until after Monday night. Nothing has been said yet about whether or not he accepted but if the offer was made... Saban appears to be a pretty good closer.

Then again, maybe it is just the hat...

Saban has seemingly found a style of play that he likes very much. Any receiver that comes to that comes to the Capstone will need more than talent to get on the field. It is the willingness to do the small things to help the teams that Saban loves. That is what made Julio so special. He had gobs of talent but he put in the work and was a nightmare in the running game.
As many talented players that have come into the program and never see the field. Our system works why reinvent the wheel.

Don't really know what McCarron did/didn't do that would warrant even asking this question. He's led us to another spot in the NC game and I just can't imagine a scenerio where AJ is not running the show next year barring injury.

agreed - he wasn't perfect, but for a first year starter I thought he played very well and that over the course of the year his decision making and read progression continued to improve.

I didn't mean anything bad by what I said about McCarron. I just mean I wonder if he will turn into the player that we all know he can be. Everyone that talked about him coming out of high school was about how much of a pure passer he is. I'm hoping he shows us the person he can be

Better receivers on the field and a better passing game makes it that much easier to pound the rock.

Right on there BG, you can't continually load up the box when your corners are getting smoked on the outside. I think next year's WRs will have a little more "play-making" ability, meaning I don't think A.J. will have to put the ball right on the money for us to have big plays.

Julio did pretty good here! So, I think if CNS see's the talent he will use it. I heard him tell Mike Leach he would love to run some of his plays.

Guys have to step up when the opportunity comes & not drop the ball. Smelley has had an outstanding year, Big Players make Big Plays.
