Root cause? Mismanagement of OL coaching over the last few years? Transfers of course...but a program like Bama should have 7-8 quality OL at all times...no excuses
I think part of the problem with the o-line depth/development could be the last couple of o-line coaching hires. Marrone wasn’t much on developing players, and Wolford was a mediocre hire from Kentucky. My UK buddy was happy when he went to us two years ago and was furious that Stoops rehired him this year.
I also think the last couple of years we haven‘t been in game situations where we could give second and third team guys many meaningful snaps. Practice is fine, but you can’t beat real game reps.
Someone that follows recruiting more closely than I do could probably speak to the quality of the depth we’ve recruited the last several cycles. Certainly we know the accolades that came with Proctor in 2023, but beyond that?
