Bama talk starts around the 7 minute mark.
-Talks about Jam being back for SEC play
-About the depth of the secondary
-The defense as whole he says is good and they are mean and physical.
-The Bama is very dynamic and a very good team.
Agree with your take.I like hearing that the defense hits "HARD" and the secondary is "very deep" and "cannot tell the ones from the two's."
I noticed he somewhat tempered the QB expectations with "there aren't any heisman trophy winners in this group, or at least I don't think there is". But he made it clear that Alabama is solid at the QB position. We don't need a Heisman trophy winner at QB, we just need a solid game manager who can distribute the ball, not turn the ball over and get us in and out of good/bad plays. We've never needed a Heisman winning QB to win a NC.
some of that depends on what the coaches are stressing for the players. It's somewhat likely that after last year, the coaches have put a major priority on taking care of the ball and not having the turnovers, so in the scrimmage situations, the QB would be doing that instead of pushing limits, while in other types of reps in a more standard practice is maybe pushing the edge a bit.Lot of talk about the secondary but then supposedly they aren’t getting pics. Yes two things can be true about a qb doing well and secondary can be good but in reality the secondary usually gets theirs if playing well. QB is supposed to be testing his limitations in practice too which usually leads to some pics.
Ty going 14/15 is also what I heard. Charlie Potter said on the BamaOnline podcast that Ty was 14/15 for 150 yards, according to his source. He also said Ty was being smart with the ball, knowing all the studs we have in the secondary, and when there's nothing there, taking the checkdowns, instead of throwing into double coverage. After what happened last season, this is music to my ears.some of that depends on what the coaches are stressing for the players. OR - maybe TS is just doing that well in practice. I read one report that said he was 14/15 or 15/16 in the second scrimmage (I don't recall the source, or knowing if it was that solid, but it seemed really specific) and that the only incomplete pass was actually a drop by the WR.
