My prediction is 10-2. Losses to Georgia and either the barn or Mizzou.
the barn on the road is pretty self-explanatory.
For my trepidation on Mizzou, you have to look at the schedule — theirs and ours.
9/27, We’re at Georgia. Probable loss. Definitely a physical game.
10/4, we have Vandy in Tuscaloosa. After last year’s embarrassment, we’ll spend a lot of emotional capital on that.
10/11, Mizzou on the road.
For Mizzou:
9/27 — UMass in Columbia.
10/4 — Off
10/11 — Alabama at home
IOW, we go into Columbia coming off two emotional games. Emotional for different reasons, but emotional nonetheless.
Mizzou will be preparing for us for three weeks — from September 21 through November 11.
Mizzou might not be very good. But Eli Drinkwitz is a good coach. He gets more out of his team than the talent level would suggest.
Give a good coach three weeks, the second of which is an off week, and he will have his team prepared. Whereas we’re coming off two emotional games.
Our talent outclasses theirs at every position. But it’s a classic trap game.
I still think we win. For intangible reasons, and if I bet the game, I’d take Mizzou and the points.
