Re: Washington's Doug Nussmeier in the mix for Bama OC

I would be surprised if he went with us. Too much NFL history I think. I'm going to be happy with whoever CNS goes with. Washington has had a very good offense; Saban went west coast with last hire too, so maybe he is onto something.
Well, if Derek Dooley gets canned next year, Schotty will go after that job hard. I know he eventually wants to be coaching in the SEC, I guess he decided he doesn't want to start off as an OC but a HC.

I'd be surprised if UT would ultimately be interested, but who knows, a career assistant coach might be the best that UT can lure.

Red Zone offense is what really peaks my interest...

Good call. If you reorder that table by points per red zone drive, Washington ranks 3rd with 5.9 points per red zone (behind only Wisconsin and Stanford) and Alabama falls all the was to 65th with 4.8 points per red zone.

Sounds like he has an impressive resume. He's definitely the most exciting candidate I've heard about yet.

Found this on the Husky free scout board . Hope it is ok to post . No vulgarities or slams on Bama !

Wow. Their fans don't know that much about Alabama. I do like seeing that Nussmeier is a big reason for their QB development. They say that Sark is the OC and play caller (sounds kind of like CNS and Kirby). I like Sark's offense. I'd think he would be very similar to Sark.

Actually , if you go over there ther is some good discussion going on. Seems they are going to a 3-4 next year . Also a fairly spirited thread on Bama's Defense . Some of the SEC qb play rationalizations , but some fairly astute posts .

Re: Washington's Doug Nussmeier in the mix for Bama OC

I found it pretty unlikely Saban would go after a former NFL OC. Both of those guys want to position themselves as future NFL coaching hires. He likes at least two years from his assistants and I'd bet Dirk and Shotty would both jump on the first assistant opportunity open in the NFL. Look at how a supposed fait accompli with these guys about faced when they had opportunities with the NFL open.

This Washington OC seems like the best fit. I'm a little worried that he didn't call the final play decision at Washington. His ability as a QB coach and his exposure to an offensive genius in Washington are positives I'm excited about coming here.
