Thought this was worthwhile and didn't see a thread where it really fit.

Peter Zeihan is a fascinating guy, and brilliant. I don't always come to the same conclusions as he does because he often underestimates the ability of people and countries to adapt. So he also often expects his predictions to happen too soon. Still, he's usually eventually right. Even when not, he always has data-based logic and makes me think.

Zeihan's fundamental premise across a lot of areas is rooted in demographics. Bottom Line: The US has a problem, but it's fixable with a sane immigration policy (I know, I know....but that's a topic for another thread). However, for Germany, most of Eastern Europe, Russia, and most especially China, it passed existential some time ago and is now inevitable.

Martin's podcast with Zeihan drops tomorrow morning at 6AM (Correction -- 10AM) Central. It might take an hour or so of your time, but I promise it'll be worth the effort. Looks like it's going to be a full examination of his thoughts on China and on the US abandoning its role as global protector.

I checked and it's free on YouTube. Be aware, though, that Zeihan is bad to drop some non-TF words. If that offends you, you might want to skip it anyway.

I listen to him every week...he is as well informed on geopolitics as anyone I have ever heard or read.

the US abandoning its role as global protector.
I listen to Zeihan, but sometimes he sounds ridiculous. For example, when he says Russia needs these seven narrow access points to prevent an invasion (e.g. up the eastern shore of the Black Sea, up the western shore of the Caspian Sea, across the Budjak in southern Bessarabia, etc.). The Wehrmacht invaded Russia with 3.8 million men in June 1941. 3.8 million men cannot squeeze through the Budjak or the Black Sea coastal plain in Georgia. It is silly to assert so. He apparently understands absolutely nothing about logistics.
The other one is the quote above. How exactly has the US "abandoned its role as global protector?" I am typing this in Italy, where I am teaching a course for NATO, funded largely by the United States. Has the US abandoned South Korea? Japan? Taiwan? Israel? Kuwait & Saudi Arabia? Just who exactly has the US abandoned and when? (Afghanistan, maybe, but that was Biden, not Trump. And I do not even blame Biden to much for that. The national embarrassment was due to the way the military decided to do it. That was CENTCOM, not Biden.)
It's like Zeihan brings up a really good idea, really good idea, really good idea, and then states that "the moon landing was faked on a sound stage in Hollywood."

On the other hand, Zeihan asks some unusual and thought-provoking questions and frequently has interesting takes on things so he is usually worth a listen.
