This could be like the 2009 title game. Bama looked unbeatable against a historically good UF team and then took a step back against Texas. I think OSU spent a lot of energy thinking about Clemson and they may not be able to replicate their play against Bama. Like 2009, 2020 OSU also has a QB that was his team's MVP the game before but now is suffering from a rib injury.
You make a very good point.

Ohio State really wants to prove something. A lot of people don't think they should have made the playoffs. Dabo gave them something to go after and Saban's daughter may have given them something also. Bama will definitely have to outscore them because our defense has its holes.

That's fine - I get it. They could win.

But to sleep on this Bama team after the last 12 games seems pretty eeyore. Before Clempson not one person would have given OSU a chance.

Not sleeping on Bama but it will not be as easy as some think and I will be glad to eat crow.

Another great point. Perhaps the big win over Clemson was not so much OSU being all-world, but Clemson sort of sleep-walking through the game. After all, they have "been there, done that" a number of times now. 2018, they rolled through the playoffs, crushed Bama in the title game. 2019, rolled until they met LSU, and get steamrolled themselves. That OSU game last Friday looked JUST LIKE last year's national title game.

So, OSU could have lightning in a bottle this year, or Clemson is just not showing up for these big games.

This is what I've been saying. TOSU had not played a complete game all year (many times looking very, very sloppy) but then they played a game that was almost perfect against Clemson. Maybe they are peaking or maybe it was simply an aberration.

At any rate, it is very hard to follow up such a great game with another great game. Like a golfer shoots 61 one day, but the next day he's near par.

I guess we'll find out Monday night.

Buckeye fan here! Been lurking these boards for the last week and just want to say that I appreciate the level headed, welcoming bunch of folks on here. If we want to win the championship, no other way I’d rather try and do it than going against the gold standard program of college football. Best of luck to you all on Monday, and here’s hoping for a great game!

My prediction/hope:
Ohio State 42
Alabama 38

Assuming Fields is not hampered, I see this one coming down to the final drive like 2016. I feel both offenses pose challenges to the defenses and it will be high scoring, 52-48, the last team to have the ball.

If Fields is hampered by the ribs, a little lower scoring and confident to pick BAMA 45-38.
