I am just curious and always have been about "jobs created". If I get hired while a dem is in charge, did that dem create my job? Seriously how does your math work?
The traditional method both sides have used is if a job is created while they are president then that counts as a job they "created". Rs have long claimed that they are job creators and good for the economy and their policies are superior in that respect. The stats indicate otherwise, if job creation under their administrations is the measuring stick. This is one of those simplistic ways of looking at things the general public employs, like "it's the economy, stupid". Lichtman's keys to the White House basically work off the underlying assumption by the public that the ruling party is responsible for the keys (two of which involve the economy).

that just raises further questions. My industry can be weird. A job can be proposed in 2018 but not really start until 2021. So who gets the credit? The major SPLOST project for the bike trails in Atlanta is actually funds from 2016, so again who gets credit?

Sorry for the hijack of the meme thread. Genuinely curious.

I believe the administration when the project hired people at whatever stage would get the credit for those jobs during that period, if that makes sense.

but (only) sometimes, that is definitive proof of a deep-state globalist conspiracy

i'm pretty sure for the case you mention, the credit would go when the job actually starts as the data used for that is the bls data taken from their various employment surveys

but states/localities will often promote "announced" jobs when touting economic development (e.g. new splost beltline initiative will bring x # of jobs as it builds out).
