Now let's look at the top halves and the bottom halves of each conference.

SEC - 16 teams
Top half average rating - 122.93
Bottom half average rating - 112.25

Big 10 - 18 teams (still dumb)
Top half - 120.61
Bottom half - 105.50

ACC - 17 teams (did top 9, bottom 8)
Top half - 113.65
Bottom half - 102.66

Big 12 - 16 teams (also still dumb)
Top half - 115.79
Bottom half - 103.98

OVERALL:
1. SEC top half - 122.93
2. Big 10 top half - 120.61
3. Big 12 top half - 115.79
4. ACC top half - 113.65
5. SEC bottom half - 112.25
6. Big 10 bottom half - 105.50
7. Big 12 bottom half - 103.98
8. ACC bottom half - 102.66

If I change the ACC average to top 8 and bottom 9....it doesn't change the list above.

Clemson is one of the top ranked team in the country, #6 overall.

The ACC #2 is Miami - the equivalent of #8 in the SEC and #5 in the Big 10.

The ACC #3 is SMU - equivalent of #12 in the SEC and #8 in the Big 10.

Clemson's path is significantly easier. If they get past LSU, who is #8 overall, they have only South Carolina standing in their way, who is #18 overall. They don't play Miami. The do play SMU.

I believe your point is how deep the SEC is compared to the other P4 conferences. I don't think there is anyone that contends that the ACC or Big 12 compares to the SEC, though I am surprised at how low the bottom half of the Big 12 ratings are.

Where I take issue is the notion that the Big 10 is comparable to the SEC, and I think these ratings support the fact that they aren't. I do believe that the top 4 of the Big 10 compares pretty well with the SEC's top 4, but there is no comparison beyond that. If the SEC and Big 10 matched-up its teams from top to bottom, I think the SEC would go 10-6 at worst.

Also, there is no way Stanford is the 66th best team in the country. They are pitiful and will be lucky to win a game this year.

They are the 66th best Power 4 team. Which is only above Purdue.

I have not looked at the Group of crap conferences.

think of how pitiful Hawaii is. Hawaii beat them and they were calling it a "signature win" for Hawaii. How sad is it when beating Stanford is your signature win?

Oh and the announcers were going on and on about Andrew Luck being the GM for Stanford. As if that makes a difference

They only play 2 Power 4 teams....Stanford and Arizona. They've got Arizona this week in Tucson. Arizona should beat them fairly soundly. Arizona is favored over them by -17.5.

Arizona would be a far distant last place team in the SEC, behind Mississippi State.

Stanford was only favored by -2.5 at Hawaii last week.

It speaks volumes that the Big 12 that is now held together with Elmer’s glue and painters tape and former Group of 5 teams and PAC-12 leftovers is STILL better than the ACC.

ACC average took a hit adding Cal and Stanford. Without them, they'd be every so slightly ahead of the Big 12, with a 109.95 average compared to the Big 12's 109.89
