CS: If we get Kent on Monday will we essentially cool on Jeffery and all the other safety prospects or do you see us taking more than one safety in this class?

I think Woodson is a big player if he gets his grades together. I think Jeffery will be another one that we would still like but might be harder to pull out of state. Kent is good and can add the weight with his build, would be a very good pick up.

I think we definitely are looking to take more than 1 safety, especially another top flight one.

I agree, if a player can play the safety position they are usually athletic enough to play a number of positions and you can't have too many versatile athletes on the team.

I have checked with all of my Norcross people and no one knows what he has decided. Some have said that he is Miami bound but they haven't heard this from him. I think we have a decent shot at him and if so it will continue to open up a connection to Norcross HS. They have a very good football program so I would love to see that.

That's the same thing I'm reading. For whatever reason, the general consensus out there seems to be that Kent will be committing to Alabama. Considering how close he has played this to the chest, I wouldn't bank on it just yet, but that is the general consensus.

I will say this, though...

I do not see Clemson as being a legitimate candidate. They are in his top three, but I would be incredibly shocked if he committed to them. Given that they have already racked up the top two safeties in the country, I don't think that Kent will go there. I know he has talked about being given the opportunity to play both ways, but I do think he realizes his future is at safety, and he will shy away from them because of that.

I may be wrong, but I believe it will either be Alabama or Miami.

I don't know if I would go that far just yet.

We signed three safeties last year, and we'll sign at least another one this year. If we sign two this year, suddenly we've got kids at safety in the span of two classes, and that's a lot. I wouldn't be surprised to see us sign another safety prospect, but if we get Kent I do think it will have to be a versatile guy that can play multiple positions.

I honestly don't know. I could see it going either way. The consensus seems to think Alabama, but some people have questioned whether or not we would take his commitment, and even if so he is playing things so close to the vest that any prediction is really nothing more than speculation.

Hopefully it will work out well for us, but I'm not too worried either way. If we don't get Kent, I'm sure Coach Saban will just go out and find us someone just as good, if not better. That's what makes him so special as a recruiter... even if he misses out on a great player, he's got another great player lined up in his sights ready to go.

I don't have a strong feeling either way, just a hunch. The strange thing is that he has not visited Alabama at all as far as I have heard and even though he is a known Bama prospect, there hasn't been hardly anything written about him. It seems that his announcement of a decision just kind of came out of nowhere as far as the recruiting media goes. I only have the hunch because of some of the things I read that other teams fans have said. That along with Bama even being included as one of his three favorites. I am thinking something must have been happening behind the scenes or out of the media's notice.

Bama hasn't contacted him in awhile. Just a hat on the table to add some drama (with two former teammates signing with Bama).

I didn't figure Saban would take a kid with discipline issues after the offseason/arrests we've had. We don't need any more bad publicity for now.

Heard big rumor that he was a silent but like others U of Miami bound once things came out. I think we have a few top ones for FS and SS just waiting, hope CNS can get the ones he wants. Not sure he even had a visit or that we were in contact the last few weeks or so?

I'm starting to think that will be the case, too.

Either way, though, this is one odd commitment. The general consensus among most Clemson and Miami people is that he'll go to Alabama, and the general consensus among Alabama people is that he'll go to Miami.

Talk about a rarity in the recruiting game...
