Anybody in the Birmingham area want a sweet puppy?

My 4 year old Husky mix got herself into a bit of a bind and had 9 puppies back in May. So far, we have only found loving, Crimson homes for 3 of them, and we are keeping one of them for ourselves. But we still have two females and three males with whom you could be cuddling right now! They are 13 weeks old, up to date on their shots, de-wormed and healthy. Maddie (the mother dog) is about 50 pounds and the dog that we are blaming for the whole ordeal is about that size as well. \

EDIT - The puppies are free to good homes. No compensation requested or required.

That's Mermaid, the smaller of the two girls, on the left, and her twin brother Merman.

Murphy Jr. He looks just like his daddy.

Marshmallow, the larger of the two ladies. She's so named because she's so fluffy and squishy.

And last but certainly not least is Maxwell. He's our blonde bombshell.

I hope these pics aren't so enormous that your computers crash. But I wanted to convey the full fluffy goodness that are the puppies :)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - they're soooooo cute. I'd love to have one, but I had a bad experience with a dog a year or so ago because she was just too big for me and my little condo. Loved the dog - but just too much for me.

I have rescued two basset hounds from basset hound rescue of alabama, one was two days from being put to sleep. I had to go through more evaluation to adopt than it would be to adopt a child. Also, Rescued a Maltese from my ex wife who did not take care of it while it was matted and infested with fleas. I love dogs. I lost finally had put down my dalmation after 17 years who was my child, before I went through the rescue route. I can give you references as needed.
I would love one of your pups, especially a female. My # is 205 229 0217 or my email address is dhm1952@gmail.com. If you are serious about your pups needing a home, I have plenty of room with a fenced in yard, but most likely it will share a bed with the others. My Bassets are wonderful pets, and they are fantastic with the smaller Maltese. They love each other and do not have any anti behavior. They also love any humans, strangers or friends. The little Maltese runs the roost and is playfully aggressive. I do have room for another child.
It would help if you could tell me what your Huskies are mixed with as I do not need an agressive dog. I do know that Huskies are mal-proned to the heat in Bama, but that should be no problem as it would have an access to indoors. Call or email me, and like I said, if you need references, I`ll be glad to give many.
Having and caring for a Dalmation for 17 years should be a testament to my devotion, not to mention the rescues I have.

What are the other mix-parts?

This issue has confused me from the very beginning because I do not have a broad understanding of canine biology. But the vet (who went to the Barn, so I guess he probably knows what he's talking about in this area) says that it's possible for a more promiscuous mommy dog to have puppies by more than one male dog, so that's what we're going with.

To answer your question, unfortunately, I am not entirely sure what the daddy dogs were. We can only speculate as to their breeds based on what they kind of looked like, but we're pretty intense dog people in my family so we're probably not terribly far off base with any of them.

About the time my dog went into season, a little squatty Corgi-looking dog popped up and spent an awful lot of time trying to entice Maddie, but we didn't think she was receptive yet. However, Merman and Mermaid (see photo 1) and one of the other puppies we already placed look an awful lot like him, so we're thinking that he played a role in it. Shortly after Mr. Corgi started hanging around, he ran off and we sadly discovered that he was killed on the interstate, so we never found out who he belonged to and were thus unable to pin down exactly what his pedigree was.

A little while after the Corgi dog disappeared, a very fluffy brown fellow who we assumed was a Shepherd/Chow mix showed up. He had a Chow face and a more Shepherd-like body and top-line. In spite of the negativity often associated with both of those breeds, he was a very sweet dog and we called him Murphy Brown (because he was brown, lol). After a few weeks of him hanging around the neighborhood, an elderly neighbor called Animal Control because she was scared of him and they removed him in early April. Murphy Jr. and Maxwell are almost assuredly his, as were the first two puppies we placed.

That brings us to Marshmallow, the larger female, and Meatloaf (who is not pictured above because he is the love of my life and I cannot bear to part with him). Meatloaf is the literal black sheep of the family and has looked like a little Rottweiler since birth. We never could figure out how he fit in because none of the dogs we ever saw hanging around looked anything like him. However, we saw a black German Shepherd wandering about in the neighborhood recently and Meatloaf looks JUST like him, so I'm thinking that the German Shepherd has been around for longer than we knew about and is probably where Meatloaf came from. Initially, we thought that Marshmallow was just that light biscuit color because Maddie is and she had the darker topcoat because Murphy Sr. and the Corgi dog both did. But she has always had more of a German Shepherd's coloring and face than the rest of the puppies, so now I'm beginning to think that she may be the product of that black German Shepherd too.

I'm convinced that puppies should be allowed to breathe.

Let the puppies breathe!

I really do not care about the sire. You made an offer, I took the offer and gave you info to contact me. No one else seemed interested. I gave you a doggie resume and you ignored it and it kind of peeved me off. Makes me believe something is amiss here. You also did not show the dam who had the puppies. Just something doesn`t seem right to me about this offer, so forget it!!

Am I missing something?

The information about the sire was in response to someone else who DID care...which is why I quoted them.

When I made the original post, I was unaware of and did not anticipate the forthcoming site upgrade which rendered me incapable of getting back to this post to see if anyone had shown any interest in the puppies. Further, I moved back to Tuscaloosa on Sunday and have been without internet service at my apartment until about 1:00 today. Immediately upon reconnection to the net, I checked here and saw your interest. I was quite excited about it. You seemed like the perfect person for one of our babies. But the mother dog belongs to my family, not just to me, so I cannot and will not agree to give a puppy to someone without running it by them first. As I could not reach any of them during the peak of their work days, I decided to wait until they got off of work to call them and discuss the matter before I contacted you. I did not want to jump the gun. I did not think that a couple more hours would make a difference because I did not realize that your offer had some sort of time limit. I regret that the lag in my response time offended you in some way and that, for some reason, you consider it some black mark on my character. I appreciate your interest and I acknowledge the revocation of your offer.

To address your assumption that something is "amiss," I did not post pictures of the mother or the puppy we are keeping. Why? Because we're keeping them and they seemed immaterial to a post about animals that we need to find homes for. In all fairness, I probably should have posted pictures of Maddie, but I was trying to keep the number of posted pictures low so that people with older machines or slower connections wouldn't have trouble viewing them. I was trying to be considerate, not shady.

I'm sorry that the site upgrade and the snail's pace at which Comcast moves stood between one of our sweet puppies and what I think would have been a good home. But it just wasn't meant to be.

OldNo7 - are there any puppies left? If so, maybe you can contact CrimsonDonald. It seems like a perfectly good explanation on why you weren't able to connect with him to find a good home for your critters.

Good luck.
