He groped someone at a party. Not as bad as you're trying to make it out to be. When you make stupid mistakes aren't you glad everyone doesn't make a hot headed decision of what to do with you? Sorry but the whole "imagine its your daughter/son" is an irrational way to look for justice.

We are dangerously thin at QB over the next few years, blue chip recruits or not. Sorry but I like the offer and I kind of hope we get him, however I think he's going to LSU
I fully understand that people make mistakes, but playing college football is a privilege, not a right. I can guarantee you that if this guy walked into your living room for your daughter, you would send him on his way without a second thought, if football was removed from the equation. I can also imagine that it was a bit more serious than you make it out to be since Richt let him go so quickly, especially since Mettenberger's mother is affiliated with the UGA athletic department. I am not sure that we are thin on talent with McCarron, Sims and Ely coming in and there are many other fish in the sea with JUCO experience. Hopefully he signs somewhere else and this all becomes a moot point.

I don't know the circumstances of this young man's unwanted "touchy-feely" but his first mistake was being where he was and drinking alcohol. Sexual assault can be a lot like "sexual harassment"......I seen, and heard of, girls/women who playfully engage in the "play/jokes" for weeks and suddenly become offended (for whatever reason). There is always 2 sides to a story.

BTW, unless the kid visiting your daughter is a high profile athlete or rock star how are you going to know what he has done? Chances are that, if you knew all the "bad" stuff your daughters suitors have done, you would keep the door padlocked.:rolleye2:

y would we take him we are recruiting grayson lambert who is a top QB recruit and we have aj who has three years sims who will have some time we are not that thin for god sake
You can never have too many good QBs IMHO. Adding him would also add another QB with experience, something we will be short on next season. I don't expect him to sign with us, but he would nonetheless be a very welcomed addition IMO.

I agree. I'm old school and my reasoning is pretty simple. He got kicked off UGA. It would be a public relations issue. Can we not bring in talent without baggage? We criticize and laugh at UGA's problems and how Richt can't keep control of these guys, yet we go out and recruit one of those very ones. Just don't like it.

There were some pretty negative things said about him when he was @ UGA and when he got kicked off. Negative things from many of you on here. So, now that Coach Saban wants him all is good? Just sayin'.

OTOH, when Bama fans laugh at UGA and Richt's crime issues, we mention that Saban hasn't had that problem. Maybe Coach Saban is who Zach needs as his coach. Instead of someone who apparently doesn't have much control, he might need a coach with all the control.

I dunno but some baggage carrier is about to win the Heisman.

Good point. If Newton stays healthy and has decent performance for the rest of the regular season, he wins the Heisman, even if we beat them in the Iron Bowl.

It is highly unusual for Coach Saban to go after a player that has experienced a legal problem. But, we do not know the whole story about this Mettenberger kid. I'm very confident that CNS had a long talk with the guy and really believes he made a one time mistake and has now straightened his life out. Otherwise, the offer would not have been made. In no way would he knowlingly bring someone on board that is going to be trouble for the team.

If Zach Mettenberger can beat out who we have now I hope he commits to us. In order for him to take the top spot he would have shown enough leadership skills and all the other intangibles to ascend to the position before our coaches handed him the job.

Cam will win the Heisman, and its painful to say, but he deserves it. Auburn is .500 team, but Cam is undefeated.
I would refrain from saying "will win" when it comes to individual awards. I would say Cam "most likely" would win the Heisman, but there is no guarantee he will win especially if Bama shuts his butt down and Auburn can't reach the SEC Champ Game. I have a sneaky feeling that if or when Bama defeats Auburn, then Oregon's game against Oregon State will launch LaMichael James past Cam for the Heisman. Auburn's potential last game is November 26 as opposed to Oregon's last game being December 4th.

Actually if we beat Auburn I would not be surprise to see James win it. If we beat the Barn means we shut Cam down and forced him to throw which apparantly did not work. The next week L James who is right behind Cam has 150+ yards in the their last game on the way to an undefeated season and to Glendale. Who looks good in front of the voters at that point. Remember last year that same weekend is when Suh jumped into the chase. Yes he was good but no where near the hype all season that James has had. Cam sits home and the voters only see one Heisman contender play that week right before voting. The Heisman as of late seems to always go to someone on a team getting ready to play for a NC. We beat Auburn they go to the Sugar Bowl not Glendale.

"It means a lot to have coach [Nick] Saban call me and offer me. They don't offer scrubs and they just won the national title," Mettenberger said. "I had no idea it was coming. But they have depth with quarterbacks like [A.J.] McCarron and [Philip] Ely is coming in. I am not real sure what to think about it."

"Right now it's LSU or A&M. I have narrowed down to two. If someone else comes in I will consider it but right now it's those two schools," he said. "I am doing things differently now. Don't promise me the world. I just want the opportunity.

Let's face it, he could be an immediate starter at LSU. The QB is the probably the one piece missing from the puzzle down there that keeps them from possibly being a great team. Currently, they're playing with Division II talent at the QB position.
