Wish I went to Tuscaloosa for college
I was just wondering if it costs anything to go to the A game and is it worth it for me going considering it would be a long drive (8-9 hours) from Missouri?? I never been to one of these games, but I can only imagine the hype with Saban on board now.

Re: Question about A-Game

Considering it's the last time you will get to see the Tide knock heads before the Fall scrimmages...I would say it's worth it. You could even make a vacation of it. Come down for the game and festivities and then head to the beach or whatever. There will definitely be a crowd there and it will be something you can tell all your friends back home about. Also...don't be surprised to see ESPN there...they'll want a piece of the action.

I think A-day is free admission...I've never paid to get in, except a long time ago I think there was a small fee.
BTW, someone told me today that Saban likes his spring practices a little later, anyone else heard this? If this is the case then we'll see a late April/early May A-Day I'd think.

Either way, I'm looking forward to getting there.

Free
But they could knock out some of that salary really quick with a small admission fee. :) I'd crack open the wallet.

Let it be free the first year and let's see how full we can get it. Maybe Mrs. Saban will get the stadium packed with "red" fans a few months early.

I doubt they'd go that late. Final exams at the university start in the 3rd week in April, so I am sure they'd be done with practice by then.

It would really stink for some kid to practice hard in spring, screw up the final and then be ineligible in the fall.

It's worth it for an overnight trip. There's always the A-day football game and a home baseball game two-for. It's a good family outing or just for a fan cruising the campus. This year will probably look alot like a fall gameday.

I'd hope that they would not wait too late...it gets pretty hot pretty soon, besides, I'm looking forward to A-Day. I see the final exams point too.

No, it is not worth it just to go to the game. Frankly, it can get pretty boring after the first 30 minutes or so. However, if you can make a weekend of it, then it might be. Last year worked out pretty well with the baseball team at home all weekend. It was also Final 4 weekend, so we were able to go over to Wing's that night and watch the basketball games.

Next Friday, I'm moving up to Wentzville, Missouri for new job. But, I think the long drive will be worth it. And plan on keeping my season tickets, too. Just hope the wife don't mind.

I had season tickets when we lived north of Chicago for four years. Husband had Auburn season tickets as well. I usually came down for a couple of games each season and he came down for 3-4.

We sold the ones we didn't use on Ebay and earned back our money. No harm, no fowl.

I don't know if this could apply to you but I structure A-day like a family reunion. My family is all in Bama and I still have alot of friends in T-town. So when Im not getting autographs and watching the Tide we can go to the Joe if there is baseball or see the museum again as a family. Then I drink myself blind at the Houndstooth for old times sake. Its a weekend.

i4bama2...moving to wentzville huh? you'll be about 15 minutes away from where i live (st. peters, missouri) what brings you up here from tuscaloosa? ....working for General Motors plant maybe? i'll find out around March if I will get Tide Pride tickets. i hope so....we should hook up and watch games together. drop me a line...roll tide roll

You are correct. I start at GM on the 16th of this month. Right now, I'm moving up there myself. Family will follow hopefully by mid-Feb. I will be living in O'fallon at the Enclave of Winghaven apartment homes. Any good sports bars that carry SEC football there? My wife is a Florida fan, but she kinda like Bama, too.

I have been going for the last 10 years and I think it is a great weekend. Stay the weekend, the game is free, play golf, go to the bars and relax. Great fun. Also, be sure to catch the captains putting their hand and foot prints at Denny Chimes. IMHO.
