Question re: Auburn Game & Experience w/Their Fans on Their Campus?

Also suggest taking pictures of your car before game with date and time stamp. Just in case you need them later for insurance purposes. I do this anytime I park on hostile territory. Every fan base has some brainless classless idiots.

Unlike LSU, going to a game in Auburn is not like vacationing in a 3rd world country. The barners there are the same uncles, friends, coworkers, etc that you have to deal with 365 in this state. I've been 3 times, and despite having never seen a Bama win, had a good time. You'll be heckled by a few drunks on your walk to the stadium (as happens to visitors in EVERY SEC campus), but its all in good fun.

This year should be great. Go have a good time!

You're 0-3!? Hope you're not going this year.

I went in 2009. Ugly campus from what I saw. Trash all over the place around the stadium. No traffic control so I would recommend taking the bus from Tigger town. I had a obcenities hurled at me and my wife, but no trouble with anything getting physical. All in all, I loved the win, but much prefer Baton Rouge as a road trip. My wife and I agreed that we would not go again.

I have gone every two years for the past 18 years and have never had a problem. If it happens, it happens.

I've been to Auburn several times for Bama and other games. I've never had any problems. Thing is....it's really a question of whether or not one of those few bad apples just happens across you or your property. It's true of any fan base.....even ours. Everyone I've ever encountered though was good natured in their taunts/heckles and I actually like their campus. I've eaten at CheeseBurgerCheeseBurger several times if it's still there and enjoyed it. Their crowd is loud. Very loud.

The only times I've ever gone there were as a member of the Million Dollar Band and I hope I never have to go back! :) Good luck and yell loud! RTR!

this is probably a reply from the wrong source, but together they are cultish. I have been several times and they are a arrogant bunch when grouped together. I had my car trashed in 1989(I think, 1st game in auburn) keyed, tag pulled off, antenna broken off.... Best thing is to beat them senseless. No better place for singing Rammer Jammer and Knoxville is good for that and little else.
I couldn't agree more. They are very cultish and extremely arrogant!

Get one of those house divided tags, lol.

I've been several times without problems. But I do not draw attention to myself, and I get in and out of the city as fast as possible.

I've been a few times but after 2001, I vowed to never go back.

First I had Andre Ware trying to get my wife (now ex-wife) drunk and trying to take her back to his hotel room. Gameday was the weirdest experience ever. I was tailgating next to the tennis courts had one auburn guy try and fight me before he passed out due to drunkeness before my very eyes during the argument. Afterwards all my tailgating equipment had been urinated on and thrown on top of a fence at the tennis courts. I also had to duck to avoid a beer can after the game.

Been twice and never had a problem. Generalizing, here, most of the older adults are kind. The younger adults can be a "little boastful" maybe even taunting, but not vandals. It's the the younger, drunken, thuggish, student-age-ish crowd (no matter what school you are at), who can be raucous or tongue vicious, and vandalicious - whether their team wins or loses. Eh, most of them have never seen a football field up close and even I could take 'em on and win.

Starkville, MS was another story. It's 20 miles from my home and I will NEVER go back to an Alabama football game there.

Be sure to have the following:
- a tractor to get in and out of "town" so you'll "fit in"
- rubber boots to protect your shoes from cow manure
- Vick's Vap-O-Rub for under your nose a'la Clarice Starling in the autopsy scene in Silence of the Lambs

I have tickets to the Auburn game this year.

I've never been to a game there, and would like to go. But I'm a little concerned about vandalism. We have two cars, both with Alabama state-issued UA license plates. One is red, the other is blue.

Neither car would be tricked out in Bama gear other than the license plate, and I'm not given to smack talk either before or after a game.

What's the experience of the board with trips to the Barn? Is it just jawing, or will I be exposed to a good chance of keyed paint, smashed windows, broken mirrors, etc.?

Not a good experience for myself. I went with my wife in '09 and ended up buying tix from a barn fan in the club level scholarship section (free food and non-alcoholic drinks). Simply cheared for Bama, with no alcohol or smack talk involved and when game was over we got yelled at, cussed out, and birds shot at us. Needless to say, we won't go back unless we were sitting in the Bama section and that would be a stretch. Good luck to you.

This is one way to know you won.

I have been to every Bama game in auburn except one, and we didn't go to that one because of the consistent horrible treatment over the years. I have been to many Bama games at every possible SEC venue and all road game venues over the last 30 years. auburn is the worst. no comparison.

Never been to *u for an IB. One thing you can hope for is that UGA beats them so they will be a little more humble when the Tide Rolls in. Otherwise, if they are 11-1...their fans will be unbearable before the game. Afterwards, 1/4 will be humble, 1/4 will be mad, and the rest will be too drunk to know the difference.

Roll Tide, Roll...A'ight!
