Ranking the SEC coaches

That doesn't make much sense. You'd think if anything he learned more by being the head man of a pro team and you still have to teach to some degree in the pros, just less so on the development of the person, but still a lot of teaching and development on the field. But learning things from being around the absolute best and seeing them up close and personal all the time, being able to teach kids exactly what it takes to succeed in the league should be a huge learning tool.
Yes you do have to teach to some degree. Coach Saban explained how he left LSU thinking he wanted a bigger challenge, like winning the Super Bowl. He realized how he would rather work with college-age athletes, and how the unrelenting demands of the NFL wore down even a workaholic like himself. His ability to teach in college is his passion. It wasn't in the NFL. That makes sense.

You're talking about preferences, not reasons why 2 years of coaching at the highest level of football on this planet would cause a coach to lose ground against college coaches.

I doubt very seriously that NFL coaching is somehow the highest level in reference to coaching. Yes he lost ground when it comes to teaching because he lost desire at the NFL level. He is getting back into it but he is not the leader quiet yet. He is close but no cigar. I did rank him 2nd in the SEC because he is very good. He is one of the top 5 coaches in America. Give Coach Saban time and he will be the best. Just not at the moment. :BigA:

I don't think you can say that he lost desire, dang, he had a 330 lb. lineman crying during practice. Also, the Fish were around .500 under him, but look at what a disaster they were last year after he left. Hardly an indication that Coach Saban was just going through the motions and collecting paychecks in the NFL.

Do you think Richt or any other SEC coach could've gotten more out of the Dolphins than CNS did? You'll have a hard time convincing me.
