RBs next year . . .

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Bo: 80%
Damien: 60%

Both of these are guesses of course but I think Bo will go and and leave because his ceiling won't be any higher if he stays (plus fear of further injuries). Damien could be in a position to increase his stock a lil more plus make a run at another championship. They only way bo stays if he gets a bad NFL grade about where he would be drafted.

I personally do not think either leave early. Neither have the numbers to impress the NFL right now. I think both will need to carry more to get the stats up to impress NFL teams, but I could be wrong. I do not hear either name being tossed around in the draft talk.

If I was Damien I would tell Saban that I would only return if I had assurances that I would get more carries. Get the wrong answer, leave and start getting paid because he is going to be an awesome NFL back.

The bigger question is would either be drafted in the early rounds. Harris probably but not sure about Bo.

Even if they come back does anyone get enough carries to establish themselves?

I don’t understand how he was used, or not used to be accurate, but I’m not a national championship coach. With Najee in the wings, carries may get split more.

I do think he goes rather than stay and risk injury. NFL players make it big on the second contract now, not the rookie deal.

They’re gone

+1

Save for the desire for a title there is no reason for the risk. I can’t blame them. This game reminded me of when Elliott got 6 carries in the loss to Mich. St. That was baffling and so was last night. DH has half the work load and still almost has 1000 yards rushing in the SEC.

I think Bo leaves, if for no other reason than another year of college is another year of potential injuries.

We should have used DH sooo much more than we did. When he was in the game, there was just such a better flow. I never quite got a handle on our substitution patterns this year. DH and JJ are clearly better receivers but Bo would be out there on passing downs. Really think JJ could have made that defender miss to get the first down on that crucial third and short.

Bo may have been there to help with blocking. He seems to have been off this year. I think JJ and DH are a good combo. If both Bo and DH leave, we are in good shape with JJ and NH. Regardless, if you abandon the run, what good are any of them?

My guess is they both leave and the main reason they both leave is because of how they were both under utilized this season. Now having the ability to look back on a full 12 game season there were more than a few occasions you could see (from sideline camera shots) and feel the frustration of both Bo and Harris on how they were being used. The staff is eating into their carries with incorporating Hurts into the running game. The carries are centered around Hurts. Our running game is centered around our QB. I hope they both stay. But we may go into next season very, very thin at RB from both a depth and talent perspective. Because if they both leave that is two BIG TIME backs that are now gone.

I wonder how much, if any, our offensive play calling issues will hurt our recruiting at RB and QB, even at WR. RB's see what's going on. I really love Damien and hope he stays but understand if he doesn't. I know Kirby is getting many of our recruits right now, and I imagine Auburn will too after last night.
I don't know who to question the most... Daboll or Saban? (about the offensive identity). I wonder what Ms Terry's opinion is? :)

If Damien Harris got Mark Ingram touches he would have 1,870 yards rushing right now.

If Damien Harris got Derrick Henry touches he would have 2,591 yards rushing right now.

Let that really sink in.....that's how ELITE Damien has been behind a subpar OL. Getting 8.2 YPC.....5th in the NCAA. The under utilization has been enough to make me want to vomit.

He needs to just go get paid. Our staff has obviously forgotten what a real MVP Impact RB looks like. Damien was visibly frustrated a lot this season. You could tell he was DYING to put his helmet on and run in and get the Offense going.

When he got in the game he'd rip off huge chunck runs just gashing people and we'd yank him out again. It was 'N.O. Saints misuse of Mark Ingram' level stupidity.

If I were Josh, Najee, and Brian I wouldn't feel too good about getting touches next year.

You must not pay attention then. Damien has been in the top 25 players of several NFL draft scouts. Also, you don’t seem to have a grasp on how the NFL drafts and evaluates players. Has very little to do with numbers and production..

You haven't been keeping up with NFL.

If both stays for next year, then that cause issues for Jacob and Najee. One would transfer.

They are mediocre.....Damien is just that freaking great. He runs for 3 more yards per carry that anybody else on the team because of his ELITE vision, ELITE cutback ability, hard nosed running, and really good speed.

He finds places to run that the blocking didn't necessarily create on purpose. Think Barry Sanders running behind the Detroit Lions offense in the 80's and 90's. Making lemonade out of lemons.
