Question: Realistically what are the chances of Cody being truly ready for LSU game?

A lot of my LSU buds keep saying that if Cody is out then they'll run on us all day. I would love for Cody to be able to not only play but play and be a contributor rather than just be penciled in on the line up card then rarely see the field once the game started. How realistic are the chances of him coming back and coming back game ready for the LSU? We'll need him.

With Chapman doing what he's doing, I'm not sure we need Cody to play as many snaps as he usually does. Get him in there on obvious running downs, and as many more as he can handle, but I hope and believe we'll still be okay with Chapman taking 60-70% of the snaps if necessary.

The happy news is that if Chapman is still the starter for the LSU game, then Cody is the backup rather than Gentry (nothing against Gentry, I'm just sayin'.)

Who cares what some corn dogs think?

Those friends of yours sound like much of the media last week all about "Cody's out!!!... Cody's out!... we're doomed now". Only to find themselves looking even more dumb for overlooking Chapman. Let them look dumb. Cody does NOT = our D. Chapman is very capable but has been overshadowed (literally) by the media due to Cody's massive size. Chapman has been signicant all season long. But hey, if people want to overlook him, then be my guest. We see how that went for UT....

Tennessee rushing = 36 yards

Tell your LSU buddies to keep wishing Cody doesn't return. ;)

What's funny is at the beginning of the year they were all making fun of him calling him "Free Willy" and other "nice" names. But as the season has unfolded and LSU has performed as they have and our D has peformed as they have (with Cody) they aren't making fun quite as much. And as the Bama/LSU game draws nearer their tune has changed to "If Cody is out we can run. But if he's in we'll struggle." Rather than "Our OL will dominate 'Free Willy'".

Luckily for us there's more than one man playing on our D. Cody is definitely something to marvel at, but the fact of the matter is he doesn't play every down. Chapman has played just about as much as Cody I'd say. To think people can run on all willy nilly us when he's out is kinda .. crazy.

That will work let Chapman get more snaps in the LSU game then that means CODY will be rested and play more on offense I mean he is a human BULLDOZIER!!!!

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!

Since Bama has jumped out to big leads on its opponents this season, total rushing yards are way down because teams have been forced to pass to try to catch up. However, Bama has been stout against the run when teams have tried to run, too.

Prior to the Ole Miss game, Bama was holding opponents to 49.44% of their average yards per carry for the season.

Individual game breakdown

Clemson - 0.0 vs 4.3 (0%)
Tulane - 2.7 vs 4.1 (66%)
WKU - 1.9 vs 4.0 (48%)
Arkansas - 3.0 vs 4.0 (75%)
Georgia - 3.1 vs 4.9 (63%)
Kentucky - 1.8 vs 4.0 (45%)

Against Ole Miss, the actual game in which Cody was injured, Bama gave up 4.6 yards per carry vs their 4.4 average (104.55%), much of it on a single play of a drive that was ultimately kept out of the end zone.

Against Tennessee, we returned to form, giving up 1.7 vs 3.7 (46%)

Was I worried when Cody went down? Absolutely.
Was I worried about the trip to Tennessee? Not really, and not because of Cody's absence.
Am I worried about LSU? Absolutely, but not because of Cody's possible absence. Tyson Jackson scares me more than Charles Scott.

I agree. I hope Cody is back, feeling great and able to start, but if he's 'just' the backup, it's still a 'win' for us!

If I recall correctly, CNS seemed to think it was an injury similar to "Smitty's" injury. Smitty only missed one game and Cody will have two games to recover. Let's hope CNS is right. However, Chapman is doing an awesome job and I don't see LSU running on him all day.

I don't know about that.

Cody was in obvious pain, on the ground and on the sideline, with tears in his eyes, and rode a cart out of the stadium.

Smith stood up after his play, tested the knee, and had to be told to lie down to avoid a delay of game penalty, and spent the rest of the game standing on the sideline.

There's no doubt in my mind that TC will be back and almost at full strength for the LSU game.

I will be embarassed if Alabama doesn't tackle better than Georgia did against LSU. I'm not sure how the Dawgs overcame the weakness they showed in Baton Rouge. :eek2:
