Recardo Wright signs LOI with FSU

DE Milton Talbert is, in my book, a near lead-pipe lock to commit to the Tide tomorrow. He has hinted around about it quite a bit, and now his good buddy Terry Grant has committed.

Past Milton, there are really no known remaining defensive recruits still in the picture for. But... maybe Shula has an Arenas-style surprise in his backpocket. You have to watch CMS... he is wily! :biggrin2:

Milton Talbert is one of the only ones. But a lot of people still think we have a shot at Tillman. At this point landing one of them has become a must in my mind. We have to get at least one solid DL guy. Linebacker? Since Stephens committed to Auburn I can't think of any decent LBs out there.

We are fine at DL. The staff has some things in mind (obviously) or Ricks wouldn't have been the only true takle we were after.

I just can't believe we haven't been able to land any top Linebackers this year. It's not like they don't have an opportunity to play early with Ryans and Roach leaving. Also, Bama has been one of the top defenses in the country the past two years, we went 10-2 this year and went to a good bowl. I just really don't understand why a top linebacker is not chomping at the bit to come to Bama. Anyway, maybe we'll load up on defensive talent next year. I feel good about our D-line this season, but next year we'll need to load up at DL and LB. We'll be fine for several years to come at DB because of the ones we signed last year and have committed this year.

We should be fine at LB this year, but we'll be a little more thin there than other positions.

I don't get it either...absolutely blows my mind. Alabama is known for its defense. What is the deal?

Simpson, Jones, Waldrop/Keys at LB next year. Collins will provide some depth, but we are gonna be playing thin. Hope we dont have any injuries next year. 2007 is where I'm starting to worry about LB's. Even if we recruit 3 five star LB's next year they would be true fresh playing in 07.

Maybe we need Coach Ball to start recruiting some linebackers as well.

Chris Keys and Prince Hall will need to step up and give us some help at linebacker. Also, now that our stables are full at RB, I wouldn't doubt we see Jimmy Johns at LB next year. Could you imagine how good he could be at LB with his size and speed. The only issue with him is that he would have to learn a whole new position and he is so talented, you almost hate to take him off the offensive side of the ball because of all the different looks you can give the other team with him in the game.

Now, in order for me to consider this class a success we HAVE to land Andre and a couple more (decent) defensive players for sure.QUOTE]

Dang, I sure am glad WE are not depending on your opinion whether or not WE are having a successul recruiting class or not. I have seen to many 4 & 5 stars flop to give much attention to the "star" system. Give Me a team of players who want to play for the "team" and who has "heart" any day.

Wright is saying that he hasn't made a definite decision yet and that his coach and everyone reporting the story are jumping the gun.... not surprising since the reports came from Criminole sites. Word is that he is going to make a concrete decision tonight.

I still think he is gone, probably too much smoke for there not to be a fire.

The guys over at rivals say its a done deal, hes already told the FSU coaches he's coming.

Relax people. We have plenty of good linebackers:

Juwan Simpson, WLB
Demarcus Waldrop, WLB
Marcel Stamps, WLB
Zach Schreiber, WLB
Jake Wingo, WLB
Prince Hall, MLB
Baron Huber, MLB
Matt Collins, MLB
Eryk Anders, SLB
Chris Keys, SLB
Terrance Jones, SLB

I think he's gone... Wright probably wanted to make a surprise decision tomorrow, but somebody leaked it (his coach). The coach probably stole his thunder and Wright wanted some of it back, so he "dispelled" the "rumors" and said he will "make a final decision later."

jake wingo gave up football.

With the Grant commit, I wonder if Max Martin or/and Jimmy Johns could get a move to linebacker after all?

Between Ford, Grant, Coffee, Upchurch, Johns, and Martin it would seem that someone will be in line for a move.

Very dissappointing, Its not that I don't like the guys we signed, its just that with Higgenbotham's blown knee I figure he needs a redshirt for sure and I heard early on that Kirchman probably needed one to hit the weights. Wright was the only one that sounded like he might be able to come in and play.

I'm speechless on our failure to sign DL and LB this year. What did Kines scare them all off??

We need some LB's in this class, here's why:

proven starter:
Juwan Simpson, WLB
Terrance Jones, SLB

unknown quantities, virtually no experience:
Marcel Stamps, WLB
Zach Schreiber, WLB
Prince Hall, MLB
Baron Huber, MLB
Eryk Anders, SLB
Chris Keys, SLB

lots of heart but not really starter types:
Matt Collins, MLB
Demarcus Waldrop, WLB

gave up football due to head injury:
Jake Wingo, WLB
