Recardo Wright signs LOI with FSU

One guy does not make a class. I don't care who it is. If you would have tuned in over the last couple of years, you would know not to take a lot of stock in star-ratings.

I don't take a lot of stock in star-ratings. I do, however take a lot of stock in our coaches. And our coaches WANTED Wright on the team. So did FSU. This isn't just about stars, it is about who the coaches wanted.

Alabama WANTED Peanut, they wanted Hawthorne, Stephens, Wright, etc, etc... this isn't just a stars thing. And yeah, Andre doesn't make or break this class but in terms of success of failure given the fact that 'Bama didn't land Hawthorne or Peanut then I'd say losing the top three guys in state does break the class. Then again I hope they land Andre, all I ever said was "if". If I am supposed to sugar coat things, I apologize. But I fail to find a good way to view the possibility of missing out on the top three players in the state of Alabama.

Rivals is now reporting that Wright has said," Not so fast," about his commitments. Is this just old news or is Recardo still wavering?

I believe that is current, many people seem to think he's just trying to save the suprise for when he has his announcement.

CRIMTIDE quoted him as saying:
"Asked if he had a favorite, Wright replied, "I'm still committed to Alabama." "

I really hope he goes to Alabama, but I suppose it is one of those things we have to wait to find out. Things don't look great though, considering most people thought he was going with Alabama. Then again we went through something simular with Alexander being moved temporarily to a soft verbal.

If a team consistantly misses the guys they are going after, IN STATE, then one would be foolish to consider it a success.

We went after Peanut, missed him, missed Hawthorne and if we miss Andre as well then yeah its a failure. You can't miss the top 3 kids in the state and pretend like you did a good job.

Well, dang - just send all the other players home because we missed out on a couple - I am sure texas tech would love to have GM back and the Mississippi schools would love the ones from Miss to sign with them - oh well, I guess somebody pulled the trigger of the gunbarrel we were staring down.

Sorry folks, but My glass is half full.

A couple of things. First, if Wright can't keep a commitment (he's on his third school now) I say good riddance, and I hope he reads this. Second, why don't we wait for the final results tommorrow, before we start running around proclaiming the sky falling?
Now, as I said. If Alabama DOESN'T land Andre this class is a failure. If they land him? I would have to look at things differently but as it stands now I see a LOT of failures in landing defensive guys along with failing to land two of the top three (and I hope to god not three of the top three), in-state
Maybe you should go ahead and e-mail Coach Shula, and let him know how big a flop you think his efforts are?

I see your point, I have high expectations and if Alabama misses out on a majority of the top talent in the state then I will consider us to have... let me put this this way. If we miss out on the top three in-state guys then I would consider us to have missed a very big chance to better our team. Not sure how else to put it. I suppose I'm the glass half empty guy. I can take missing some of the top out of state guys like Tebow, but the prospect of missing Andre (I know he's a 'Bama lean but I have to admit waiting and watching prospect after prospect pass over Alabama has become draining) really disheartens me. I can take missing Hawthorne, I can take the Peanut thing even though we could use a good DL. Andre, if he chooses another school, to me that is the (rather large) straw that broke the camel's back.

Grant? He kind of equals out the potential loss of Wright in my mind. I think we did a good job in Mississippi. McElroy? I think he was a steal, but he's not a Rivals 250 and he wasn't our first choice.

Don't get me wrong, Alabama did a good job at RB, WR and DB. It isn't all bad, but the mear prospect of losing out on the top three in-state is frightening to me. I'm sorry if I'm the only one that feels that way but I do.

In either case, it doesn't matter who takes the field for the Tide on game day. I'm going to cheer them on and give them my full support. I just want those guys to be the most talented guys on the planet if possible.

I'm just curious, if Peanut had committed to Bama, but then couldn't get in school because of academics would that be "better?" It would "pretty up" the class but in reality have no bearings on winning football games which is the purpose of recruiting. "Missing out" on a player now, or after signing day because he fails to qualify doesn't really matter either way he is not improving your team. You take the material you have and try to improvise, adapt, and overcome.

Don't Forget!!!

we have two DL, that redshirted this year, that were 4 stars. we also have little greenwood, who was around the play every time he got on the field this year. I call him little greenwood only because i know his daddy. i don't think we have to worry about the DL to much this year. we have done a good job in the last couple of years in that department.

Shouldn't the thread title be "Wright is wavering" since we don't know what's going on. Also I think Brian Motley ends up on DL, but thats my opinion. Also "good riddance" to Wright, first Crimson Hawk, to my knowledge, we don't have confirmation he ever verbaly committed. Maybe I'm falling into his "trap." Also it would be like you getting shunned by Bama until January, while you had already committed to Georgia Tech. I'd switch in a heartbeat. FSU was his childhood favorite on all accounts, and personally that remark was closed minded. It's like losing and saying I didn't care any way. Bull crap you didn't care.

Recardo Wright says not so fast to FSU!

Below is what is showing on the FSU page at Rivals.com. They are not showing him even as a soft verbal.

by Gene Williams (Dot Com)
On Tuesday afternoon, reports surfaced that four-star linebacker Recardo Wright, who was previously committed to Alabama, made a commitment to the Seminoles. From all indications the Dr. Phillips (Orlando, Fla.) standout changed his mind about Alabama and is now headed to Tallahassee. However, Warchant.com caught up with the speedy linebacker and he says "not so fast".

It's a shame that this guy's stock only started rising after Bama offered him a scholarship. Maybe next year if there is a 1 or 2* star guy out there that no one is interested in, perhaps the offer need not be made until the week before signing, like we did Arenas. That way no one else has the time to evaluate and steal him.

Yeah and then one line under that it says "but all indications point to Wright signing with FSU tommorow."

Well whatever is going on with Wright it certainly does not look good for Bama. This is a story that will come to a conclusion tomorrow. Right now Bama Mag is listing Wright as an FSU commitment and he is not on their Alabama Commitment List. Bama On Line is listing Wright as not committed to either Alabama or FSU and he is not listed on their Alabama Commitment List. At the very best Wright is de-committed from Alabama and at worst he is committed to FSU. The later is the most likely scenario.

I do hate this b/c we needed this guy!

I have actually heard earlier this week he was going to commit to F$U. However, I was actually holding out and hoping it was just rumor! We are very painfully thin at LB in the spring and to be honest one of our other recruits is a long shot to get in,one has major rebab for a knee, and the other is slated to play DE which is also thin!As a group though this is a good class just weak in the DL and LB positions which are places of need due to 7 starters graduating.I know mr. Bayou will say this is a negative post but I really wish Terry P would give me his opinion!

Do you think that the coaches DIDN'T WANT any of the players that did commit? It is about who they want (they evaluate talent well), but you can't always get what you want (in Mick Jager voice). Look at the GREAT (yes I said great) players we got from other states, that might ease the sting of missing the big three from this one.

krAzy- I think you got it all wrong. Dont look too much into rankings or rivals 250 or whatever. Now there is a big difference between the five star players and everyone else, but there is little difference between 3 and 4 star players.

Also, If Alabama cant land a kid after going 10-2 and having the best defense in the country, then he was never going to come to Alabama. If Smith goes to USC after the most successful season Alabama's had in 4 years, then we were never going to sign him.

Rivals.com: The Signing Day Wire
8:32 p.m. What's up with Recardo Wright?

Linebacker Recardo Wright was a firm Alabama commitment until visiting Florida State two weeks ago. Ever since, rumors had been flying that he might be a Seminole, and his personal webpage said his commitment to Alabama was 50-50. This afternoon, reports surfaced that four-star prospect made a commitment to the Seminoles. So where is he headed?

"I haven't made a decision," Wright told Warchant.com. "It's still 50-50. I'll make my mind up tonight." Dr. Phillips High School players with scholarship offers will sign letters of intent at tomorrow starting at 2:30 p.m. ET. By then, Wright hopes to have his mind made up. Click here for more on Wright and Florida State recruiting on Warchant.com.

OK DD I'm suppose to be Mr. 1/2 full

I believe we end up with ASmith. Actually, according to what I've heard USC has been closer to getting him than most believe. However, distance and family influence IMO will win out for Bama in this case! JMHO but we get AS tomorrow, but he was just not a lock as many thought!
