Recruiting: DT Alfred McCullough commits to Bama!

Welcome top the Capstone, Alfred! I saw him play last season and he is a mountain that can flat out move. He loves to get into the backfield and does it on a regular basis.:biggrin2::BigA:

Don't forget, he hasn't even started his senior year in high school. He has a whole other year to develop.

true. in a year, plus the summer leading up to 2007 fball season. he could be more lean and stronger than most could imagine

he is a junior in high school. he will get a little bigger, and i imagine, will hit the weight room harder now he is a tide recruit. i also doubt if we see him at defensive end. he will add about 10 pounds, and be a excellent tackle. the tide likes those lighter, faster def ends.

In-State Defensive Tackle Commits to Tide
Athens defensive tackle Alfred McCollough announced his decision to Alabama's coach Chris Ball on Saturday and the coach was excited to hear of his decision. McCollough talks of the reasons for his college choice and if that decision is final.

"Alabama is close to home, offers a chance to play early, and it felt like the right place for me," Alfred McCollough said from Athens, (Ala.).

Murphy is athletic, but it seems hard to think he is more thletic than on of the greats at DT in the NFL.
I know comparing a high school kid to a guy who played and played well at the NFL level is not a fair comparison, but Siragusa was never one of the most athletic DTs. IMO, Murphy even at this stage in his development is more athletic than Siragusa was. Does that mean he's a better player or he's going to be a better player than Siragusa was, heck no, but I think he has more athletic potential. Like I said, I'm not knocking the Goose, he was a successful NFL player and one of the best characters the league has ever had, but he wasn't a poster child for the athletically gifted. I sure hope Murphy lives up to that "potential" too, while in a Bama uniform of course!

His verbal commitment to the Tide is not rock solid and he replied when asked, "I wouldn't say I'm 100-percent committed. I will still keep my options open. I think I will stay with Alabama in the end though."
Doesn't seem to be 100% sure. Maybe he's just trying to keep his options open, but I don't like to hear a Bama recruit talk this way. Welcome aboard Alfred.....unpack your doubts, & stay awhile!:)

this makes me very happy!!!

Hey Nut,

Was wondering when you were going to chime in! Talking with you in February you were really leary about the lack of Dlinemen we had. I guess this does make you happy. How many more do we need to sign to make you ecstatic?

Roll Tide!!
