I echo Pachyderms comments. 0-1 DB was my big question. I got to hear CNS at the last scrimmage talk about the need for more DB's and then to see us not get a hotshot CB is a bit suprising.
Honestly, the CB crop has been down this year. The two we've been on the longest are now leaning other ways (Whitlock and Green). It'll be tough to pull Bryant, but it's possible.

I'd look for the staff to peek into the Juco ranks to find someone who can compete until next year opens up some more opportunities.

I know SOS was talking about offering, but I wasn't aware he rec'd one yet. I guess the temptation to go play with big bro would be there.
I was pretty sure I had read an article somewhere about him getting an offer, but it might have just been on another message board. You're definitely in the know more than I am, so I'll assume that whatever I read was just speculation.

What are the odds that Darius Packer will get an offer from CNS if we are unable to get Whitlock, Green or Bryant? :conf2:

Not getting Brown would be a big disappointment, but I've had a feeling he'd go to OU. But going after Jerrel should be the main priority defensively.

Good updates

I'm very confident that we'll land guys at most all the positions that are still in need. At LB, Kevin Steele is great at bringing these guys in, he always got some studs at the buzzer. At DB, th combo of Coach Saban and Coach Smart will be the magnet that draws in a couple big time guys. However, the only place I am worried about is finding that true NT. With the uncertainty of Kerry Murphy, and Reggie Ellis heading to Illinois, I am wondering where we'll turn next. I do like the possibility of Rod Davis though. This guy can really be dominant at 6-2 300. He reminds me alot of Glen Dorsey at a similar age. http://alabama.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=61051&sport=1

As Far as Smelley goes, I hate to tell ya. But, Big Bro is kinda on SOS's crap list around here. He is starting to not play as well, and Blake Mitchell is going to take over. As far as next year goes, Stephen Garcia, who is redshirting this year, will start next year. He is wrecking shop in the scout team, and I've heard Spurrier wanted to take his red shirt off b/c he is doing so well. Just some reports from down here in Columbia.

After yesterday's UT game, I'd be awfully surprised to see the Smelley brothers together at SC next year. Assuming Mitchell stays healthy, I don't think we'll see big bro Smelley at QB again this year.

Is there any chance Michael Ricks will resurface to help us in the DB area?

...and how about Dee Finley? Any chance we're still working on him?

We could have really used Michael McNeil in last year's class! I consider him "the one that got away" from that class.

He didnt really get away, Coach Saban got on him late after Shula didnt go after him really that hard.

The scoop I recall hearing is that he was at UNA (not playing football) trying to do what needs to be done to get into UA. Others might be more familiar with how this is going and when such an arrival could take place...

He's been to every LSU home game this year. Don't believe we have backed off.
If he doesn't commit before the end of the season I like our chances. His school does not allow you to make official visits until after the season. Its a lot easier to go to LSU games for him than Alabama. However I do agree I"m sure LSU leads but it could change if we get him on campus.

I don't pretend to be RTO but here's my summary.....William mentioned back in September that he wasn't going to do much with recruiting until after his season. He attended a couple of early Bama games and talked with AB and Jerrell Harris. He hasn't given a timeline for a decision.

RTO, just a quick question. Whats the status on Brandon Bolden? Would he be in our #1 catergory or are we waiting for bigger fish to commit/decommit? I'm asking because I am meeting him and his uncle in Brookhaven, Miss. this weekend in route to T-Town for a uno-fficial visit I believe. From all accounts he is a great kid who is having a phenomal season but projects to be slightly on the slow side (4.6 speed).

I think Green is likely 4th on our chart for 3 LB spots. Granted, Brown will be a tough pull. So, Harris, Hightower, and Brown are all real possibilities.

He and Jordan will likely be in contention for the possible last RB spot. I don't think we'll have room to take 2 more.

I haven't yet seen film on Bolden, but from what I've gathered he is quicker than his combine numbers on his profiles. He was offered in camp, so I think he must be legit. Remember, the staff wants a power back....could be Bolden.
