For crying out loud stop worrying or caring about what the dang media is covering. That is not his job. Who cares if they are not covering his pet projects, that should have no sway in what he does. Of course HHS should "pay attention to other illnesses as well", I don't think anyone expects them not to manage, study and investigate a whole number of different illnesses and health issues at the same time. So, how about you stop firing scientist so HHS can continue to do that effectively.

I don't understand what getting on stage and whining about the media is supposed to accomplish. The funding for this stuff is not dependent on what the media is covering. So, how about he get off the stage, get behind his desk and start working on all these issues, including measles.
I used to think our society was becoming like the film Idiocracy.

The way things are going, and the fanboi responses I read here, I'm investing all of my life savings in Brawndo. It's what plants crave. :D

When I hear RFK Jr speak, all I can think about is

In all fairness, when the people "attacking you" are getting a lot of their information and narrative from the media, it does matter. Does it matter how blacks are covered in the media compared to other races? Should we "stop worrying about what the dang media is covering" then? The media, unfortunately, has an enormous influence on our society so yes, they should be held accountable and called out for every thing they screw up. They don't mind doing it to others.

RFK doesn't need the media's support if he wants to direct his agency to do more about autism. His little rant against measles is what is stupid. There is nothing wrong with reporting about a resurgence of measles, it is actually news right now. He doesn't want to hear it because he is part of the problem, part of the machine that continues to spread misinformation about vaccines, which is why measle cases are up.

C'mon, he's been in office for like two months, LOL.

Public perception matters - and when the media is focusing on minutiae while ignoring massive, glaring problems I have zero issue with government officials calling them out.

Just watched a healthy 40-year-old die from sepsis week before last...

Healthy people can easily die from infection.
I almost did. I had my daughter via natural childbirth in a hospital where staph was apparently a problem but I didn't know that until later. I noticed that the midwife doing the delivery washed her hands when she walked in but put did not put on gloves. I didn't say anything but should have. Without going into too much detail here, she needed to do internal stuff with those ungloved hands and I have always wondered if that's how it happened. A few days after bringing my new little girl home, I had a fever which had me shivering so badly, the bed seemed to move and pain which proceeded to grow steadily worse very rapidly. Went to the OB and they sent me straight back to the hospital. Where they couldn't resolve the problem for a week. Pain, weakness, fever, delusions, alcohol baths, ice, ice, ice and ongoing piggybacked, intravenous antibiotics. They kept trying different combos. I can't recall all of it because I was so out of it but I remember those things. Finally something began to work and I started to get better and then missed my two year old and my newborn so badly I could hardly stand it. They didn't want to release me until they were sure. It wasn't until later that I found out that I had been fighting going septic. This was once called childbed fever and it doesn't happen much these days but I like to be special!

He's been doing a pretty darn good job of spreading this nonsense for many years.

The last two months, he's been given the steroid bullhorn to spread his moonbat conspiracy theories.

According to the CDC (image below) more than 2/3 of the cases are of kids >5 years of age.

It's quite a reach to heap this on Kennedy's shoulders, but the media is chanting "Rocky" so here we are...

Forgetting that RFK Jr has a long record of being anti-vax, and he's now got the keys to HHS.

There isn't much more that I can say right now. Those cars are gonna just keep going over the bridge.

The point is laying this at his feet when literally no one listened to him until about a year ago is silly partisanship 101.

Yes, I agree that his anti-vax stance, even if he's doing an about-face now, is not good as the HHS secretary.

But his point that we have FAR more massive health concerns than measles is 100% accurate. That said, expecting the media to latch onto that is pie-in-the-sky thinking. Much easier to go for the low-hanging fruit.

He's been doing his schtick--and getting headlines--since before COVID during COVID.

How progressive of you.

Do we have other health concerns? Sure. Do you feel comfortable with a nutjob like RFKjr leading the response? I sure as hell don't.

Anybody that listened to him then would have listened to anyone who said what they wanted to hear.

I feel more comfortable having someone wanting to address the MAJOR health concerns we have, even if he needlessly trivializes the minor health concerns we have like measles.

The reality is we've had secretary after secretary that stressed things like vaccinations while never touching the things that are actively killing us, like obesity and impurities in the food chain.

Ideally we have someone in the position who does both, but if I have to choose, the guy who wants to address the things killing more people is the one I want in the position.

Vaccinations are not minor health concerns and are certainly not limited to measles. Kennedy is an anti-vaxxer nut and has no business serving in Trump's administration, particularly in HHS. His past and current statements make it clear that either he doesn't understand or doesn't care about conducting proper scientific research. Obesity and food safety are problems that need to be addressed, but there's absolutely no reason to believe that Kennedy will deal with them properly. Like Trump and Musk, he seems happy to move straight to the results he wants without carefully considering the consequences. That's dangerous enough in foreign policy, but it's absolutely deranged when it comes to the scientific method.

RFK Jr. will order placebo testing for new vaccines, alarming health experts
The potential change outlined in a statement would require all new vaccines to undergo placebo testing, sparking concerns among medical experts.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. intends to shift the way vaccines are tested, a move that the agency said will increase transparency but that medical experts fear could limit access to vaccines and undermine the public’s trust in immunization depending on its implementation.

The potential change outlined in a statement says all new vaccines will be required to undergo placebo testing, a procedure in which some people receive the vaccine and others receive an inert substance — such as a saline shot — before the results are compared.

“All new vaccines will undergo safety testing in placebo-controlled trials prior to licensure — a radical departure from past practices,” an HHS spokesperson told The Washington Post in response to questions about Kennedy’s comments on the measles vaccines and general vaccine policy.

Vaccines for new pathogens are often tested this way. But for well-researched diseases, such as measles and polio, public health experts say it makes little sense to do that and can be unethical, because the placebo group would not receive a known effective intervention.

I can just see it now: Kid that doesn't get vaccinated - doesn't get measles. Conclusion: Vaccines are worthless because kid didn't get vaccinated and didn't get measles.

It's all in the data analysis. :D

This idiot who has a law degree and a bachelor's in American history thinks he knows more about health care than medical doctors and scientists. The problem is not that he is a fraud, it is that people like my parents are eating it up. They now trust RFK and idiot in chief Trump, who have zero days of schooling on the subject, more than medical professionals and scientists who have spent many years learning and practicing to reach their positions. It is scary how quickly people abandon fact and reason to follow nonsense and lunacy.
