Between Cochran and Kirby you have the two major coaches during the run that I’m happy to see gone. I guess tie goes to Kirby for how he had left and how he still conducts himself. But both stayed way too long and prevented us from fully combating the changes in college football.

Agreed on both Kirby and Cochran.

I have to admit, though, I was concerned when Cochran left. It was only after he was gone that I had the remotest clue that S&C had passed him by.

I thought we were going through an unlucky stretch on soft-tissue injuries, and had no idea that his methods were leading to a greater tendency for blown knees and damaged hips.

Knowing what we know now, and looking back to the wailing and gnashing of teeth (some of which was mine), it’s hard to believe that Kirk Herbstreit said losing Cochran was ”a SIGNIFICANT blow” to Saban’s football program, and an indication of a changing of the guard in the SEC.
