Richard Hendrix

I am sure that he is going to explore his options, but purely from a selfish viewpoint, I hope he stays. We can't compete without a force in the middle. With a healthy Ron Steele and Hendrix we could be pretty good.

There is no reason for him to stay. He's graduating this May and nothing but bad things could happen. He suffered from tendinitis in his knee at the end of the year and wasn't the same player he was early in the year. He won't see an upgrade in coaching to improve his stock so he nees to go. I know some will argue he should for a chance to make history and be on a "Final Four" team, but thats not gonna happen at UA in our current state.

Obviously, I hope he stays. However, I really don't see too many valid reasons for him to return. Unless he has fallen to a late 2nd or 3rd round pick in the draft, I expect him to leave. I don't think playing with Steele for one last year has a strong enough appeal.

Here's to hoping he proves me wrong!

If all these talented freshmen, from around the country, come out early he should stay. I don't see RH going First Round after this year's performance. I know he put up really good numbers, but part of that was due to the fact there was no one on the team to cut into his numbers.

He needs one more year of adjusting to his new size. I think losing some bulk opened up his "outside" shot. One more year of improving that and he's a first round lock.

The NBA draft is only two rounds, and there are only 60 picks. Richard right now is probably looking at early second round. But he only needs to find one team that likes him. Bear in mind that only first round normally gets guaranteed money, so if he falls to the second round he is going to be working to simply make the roster and find a spot on the team.

RH has improved significantly this year.

He is a battler, a gamer, and I love what he did for this year's team. But he needs to show a far more advanced offensive game and the ability to guard out on the floor before he cracks the first round.

That said, it's his life. He's made the University of Alabama a better place, and I wish him only the best -- whatever he decides.

I see him along the lines of Erwin Dudly. Not really big enough for PF in the NBA and not quick enough to be a SF. If he does have his degree already I could not blame him for leaving. What ever he decides I wish the best for him.

From the article,
The web site nbadraft.net currently projects Hendrix as a second round pick (No, 40 overall) in the 2008 NBA draft, which will be held in June.

I think he might declare for the draft and then not sign an agent. If he can't get is draft stock up to a consenus first rounder by the deadline, then he will come back. That is a pure guess, and not based on any inside information.

I think he needs to stay for his senior year. I say this admitting that I selfishly want him to stay.

He needs to work on his mid-range jumper. He can throw guys around in the low post at the college level, but the NBA is an entirely different story. He could use another year to work on his game at the college level.

If he goes in the first round, I cannot blame him in the least for leaving.

I am sure he will do what's best for him and that's what he should do. I wish him the very best no matter what he chooses to do.

Along as gottfried does not screw it up....

having Hendrix, Steele and our incoming Mcdonalds-all american we may be awfully good. He could use the publicty that comes with a run at the national title.

Being a senior leader on such a team would add value to NBA scouts.....

According to BOL, Richard will declare for the draft, but not sign an agent. This is the same thing Jamereo Davidson did a few years ago. It means that he will be allowed to come back to school if he withdraws his name from the draft 10 days prior to the draft. (Draft is June 16).

It will all come down to how well Richard plays in the camps these next few months.

I hope he stays but either way this guy will be a star in the NBA. He's a diamond in the rough and getting away from Gottfried, and getting better coaching at the next level, will help him a great deal.

Too bad TR Dunn left the Bama staff three years ago. When TR was an assistant coach at Bama, the defense was better and the players were fundamentally better. Hendrix could have benefited a great deal at Bama if TR was still an assistant.
