Richt Closed UGA's Practices

790 The Zone reported today that Mark Richt closed UGA's practices this week to reporters.
What suprises do you expect?
I expect Georgia to be surprised when we take the field and play good, hard-nosed, smash mouth football for 4 quarters. Then I expect them to be surprised at the final scorre, as well.

I WILL NOT be surprised IF we lose and ESPN and the REST of the media begins hammering the squad. It seems all sports reporters have taken a tip from the Finebaum school of journalism.

the closed practices are just the private memorial services for friends and family before the public funeral saturday!!

ROLL TIDE!!

Yet, Richt attended the Bama/Clemson game to "watch his son" who is the redshirt freshman backup qb at Clemson.
What's the potential harm in that? (In other words, what could Richt gain from attending in person that he couldn't gain from watching on TV.)

:BigA:Cody and Compay will stuff anything that they bring thier way. The QB better be on his toes cause Cody will break the line of scrimmage and make plays or open the hole for the LB's. The QB better be quick on his feet or he will be on his back for a sack..

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!:BigA::)

This game really does scare me because I DON'T think Alabama's going to come out of the gates and just blow UGA off the map, the way most of our fans are anticipating. I've been listening to Finebaum and reading over various message boards and I hate to say it, but we're putting way too much confidence in our team going into this game. And what scares me even more is knowing we/I done the same last year and my head was deflated INSTANTLY.

I agree...I think we have a fairly good shot at winning, but it won't be easy by any means. I expect a hard fought and close game.
I do think most of the pressure to win is on Uga though; Bama wasn't even supposed to be this good yet.

Binoculars pointed at the Alabama sideline would give a much better perspective than the occasional glimpse of the coaches seen on TV.

Yeah God forbid we have confidence in our team. Seriously I don't think anybody here thinks we are gonna "blow UGA off the map." If you want to see that kinda confidence just meander on over to the UGA boards and see how much respect they give us. If anything I think our confidence is well placed in the play of our offensive and defensive lines because we have to dominate there to win the game and it looks very possible that is exactly what will happen. I definitely expect a hard fought game from both sides and Georgia probably should win. But if we execute and finish then we CAN win. RTR.:BigA:

It's nothing new for a coach to close a practice before a big game. I don't know how richt operates any other time so this closing might or might not be out of the ordinary.

My general thought is however when a coach closes it up, he is at least a little worried about the game. richt knows this is a huge game early in the season. Losing this could take either team completely out of the bigger picture. richt is worried, and not about Saban creating another spygate. Bama is hot, playing excellent defense and has all the tools to knock georgia out. As long as Bama doesn't come out flat, we should be able to win this game.

Yeah God forbid we have confidence in our team.

Are you one of those who are saying we'll win by 21+? There's nothing wrong with having confidence in the team, but having the audacity to swear we'll win by 21 points at the least is just plain embarrassing. I didn't specifically say on this site, but I've read on VARIOUS message boards and have been listening to FINEBAUM where more people are predicting a UA blowout than anything else.

I would say those are the kind of fans that you pay little to no attention to. I'm sure there are plenty of UGA fans saying the same thing.
