Rivals is reporting that RL and JJ are visiting Florida ST. this weekend. Is their any chance that Lester changes his mind and that Julio JONES goes to Flordia ST. ?

I seriously doubt it. FSU is on the brink of becoming a total nightmare. They have some serious institutional problems there. I cannot imagine any responsible parent letting their child play football there especially one that many feel have a career path that involves playing on Sunday one day.

I believe I read a day or two ago that Lester would not be visiting Florida State with Julio.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I can swear I read that yesterday.

I "thought "Lester was solid in the Bama camp, but I read on another site he is only 75% certain. That IMO is a very unsolid committment, and I'm sorry but I don't like to hear that from a Bama prospect.I have felt like our shot at J Jones was better with Lester's commit, but now I might need to rethink.

You did this same question came up in the Julio Jones thread. I started to merge this thread there but the question will just come up again.

Robert Lester is a solid Alabama commitment. He does not have any visits scheduled to any other schools. The Foley HS coach said Lester is not visiting FSU this week end with Julio.

Again Lester is a solid Alabama commitment.

I realize this post might get deleted but is anyone else sickened by the fact that the exact same schools that are interested in JJ are now all over Lester? How transparent can they be!?!? I suppose they could say the same thing about Bama but the whole thing feels like it's getting a bit smelley (and I don't mean "Brad").

I don't think that is giving Lester a fair shake.

He's a good prospect in his own right. Scout.com has him as a three star, and one of the top fifty safety prospects in the country. Rivals has him as a four star, and one of the twenty-five safety prospects in the country. Moreover, he has a very impressive offer list in his own right. He's not touted as the second coming of Ronnie Lott, but he's a good, solid prospect.

I don't think people are going through him just to get Julio. And honestly, as much of an independent guy as Julio seemingly is, anyone dumb enough to be willing to try that is likely to find themselves very disappointed.

Ever since Lester committed to Bama, it seems that everybody has been going after Lester, Oklahoma, Florida ST. , LSU AND OTHERS. I just hope he stays with Bama.

I wouldn't ever try to take anything away from Robert's ability or decision-making. If I were a coach at Timbucktoo U, I'd be going after him too. I'm just saying it seems a bit weird that the exact same schools are going after both of them. Just a coincidence, I guess. Or good recruiting. ;)

Well it seems like most of his recruiting picked up after the Daphne vs. Foley game on ESPN. In that game he picked off two passes, including the one in the final seconds of the 4th quarter that sealed the victory. It's not like most of these schools have been knocking on his door since before the season started. However, I do think it's a little bit of both.

1. Teams want JJ.
2. Lester wasn't highly rated until after that game.
3. Word gets out that JJ and RL want to go to college together
4. Lester makes a big impression on national TV.
5. Offer Lester and if you get him, great, if JJ decides to follow, then it's the best recruiting coup in ages!

I can see how teams are going about this, it's not dishonest. It's not like they aren't getting a great player even if they only got one of the two. I hope we get JJ, I really, really do, but if we only get half the pair and RL sticks with his commitment, we'll be fine with that too. JJ is 18 years old, Alabama and Nick Saban have both won MNC's without JJ. That being said, I still like our chances.

Couple notes:

- Lester and Julio are not a package to any school.

- Lester said he is 75% firm to Alabama. People should not overreact as he was not recruited highly and may want to see what is out there.

- He still may go to Tallahassee this weekend.

Robert Lester is now saying that he is uncertain if he is going to visit Florida State this weekend. Lester said that OU and TT are both trying to get him to visit and he is not sure if he will visit them either but he is considering the visits.

It appears like he is thinking seriously about looking around. Not a good development. Hopefully he will stick to his commitment but from what I read with quotes from him he is a soft verbal and in his own words not 100% committed to Alabama.

Just to update things...

Todd Watson, the head football coach at Foley High, he has canceled his remaining visits. He will not visit Florida State, or anywhere else, and is firm with Alabama.

You shop, we shop.

He'd be nuts to go elsewhere considering where we're headed and the opportunities to play and play early.

Things change in a hurry in recruiting. It is from day to day and even hour to hour sometimes. Glad to hear that Lester is 100% Alabama with no visits planned.

"you shop, we shop" doesn't apply to every commit....

Lester has a spot and will always have a spot....

that said, he'll be at Bama....he's going to enjoy some visits with Julio.
